Hey guys, i was just searching around for information on the silvertop. Was trying to find the redline, but kept getting different answers.. lowest being 7500 and highest being 8400.. Then i read that the Automatic ECU capped the redline to 7800 as oppossed to 8300 or so with the Manual ECU..

Since my engine used to be auto and all the harness and ecu came from the same car. I would have an Auto ECU (ill check, it should have a big sticker "A/T" on the ECU, but its at the workshop atm). If somehow a Manual ECU manages to come my way, would it be the simple process of juss swapping em over and plugging it in? or would the auto and manual have slightly different plugs/loom?
wouldn mind that extra 500rpm or so for my ego lol

(aftermarket management is out of the question atm)

Wiring isnt til Monday, if its so much of a hassle ill just go to SSS Automotive (where i bought the engine from) and beg for a swap.

Cheers,
Ray

my cut-off on my tacho is 7200RPM, however that may be because my tacho is out and its 7500. I was under the impression its this instead of 8000 because I was missing the speed sensor input, I guess I will find out shortly

yeah thats right Sam, 7500 is the revlimit if you don't have a speed sensor. My old st20v limited at 7500 ,no speed sensor, Manual ECU

So its not the ECU? It's just a matter of whether i have the speed sensor or not?

The Auto & manual ECU's have a different pinout

Well i called up the place i bought the engine off.. Turns out its not as straight forward as switching the loom and ecu, as the auto and manual apparently have different injectors. Gee, ill just have to wait til aftermarket management.. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

thanks for the help guys

you'll still be happy running factory management. 20v's rock

aftermarket is still better especially with a 20v

my ke ran factory management and it went pretty hard recently made 84kw at the wheels.

a mates car (now Biggo's) runs a blacktop with auto ECU it made more power but appears somehow to have no revlimit don't quite know whats going on there but yeah apparantly it just keeps going......

that is such a load of shit, they do not have different injectors. in fact the blacktop and silvertops don't event have different injectors. Read the pin out differences at Club4AG http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech_pa...0V%20Silver.htm (http://www.club4ag.com/faq%20and%20tech_pages/ECU%20Japan%204age%2020V%20Silver.htm)

yeh, spose i got told wrong. i guess its just some plug differences between auto and manny. My wiring dude said he could do the manual ecu and change around the loom for another $50.. hope it turns out sweet.. thanks guys.
