okey dokey.....

just put the head of my motor back on, set #1 to tdc

and the timing mark on the harmonic balancer doesnt corelate to the 0 degree mark, instead it sits at about 20 ish. and there is only one mark.

and when installing the cas, eeeeerrrr..... how do you do it?
I got the back cover of the cas off, and the button thingy lines up with the top contact.

the gears line up with there marks, and the motor is set at tdc?

Is the cas set right?

oh yeah and we set tdc with the head off, kept it there and re-checked it was still on tdc

how did you set it to TDC if not with the timing mark on the pulley?

Me and my mate a mechanic, set it it to tdc with head off and noted the timing mark in the pulley was off. and the we used a SST screwdriver down the plug hole to find tdc again. The mark on the HB lines up with the 20 mark on the plastic back cover thing?????

Yes, Yes I am. I get the feeling by your question this is something worth mentioning? :peek:

But can anyone give me instruction on installing the cas.
can only find instruction on a dizzy, which is a tiny little different

When on TDC, the mark on the crank is ment to line up with a pin sticking out of the oil pump, which is close to 12 o'clock I think. You probably swapped the black plastic cover with another motor.

12 o'clock is just about exactly where the mark sits at TDC comp, I think the motor is from an ae101, or so i was told.

Any info on the cas installation.

cheers JR you da man:thumbup:

Take the cover off the CAS so you can see where the sensor position is.

well you werent to know its worth mentioning, otherwise you wouldnt need help :)

the needle is meant to stick out of the timing belt tensioner lock bolt. either buy the right bolt or change pulleys if you want to set the timing properly.

as for the cas, one of the teeth is probably a bit longer than the other 12, line that up with a dimple in the casting of the CAS base and push it into the motor roughly lined up whilst the motor is at TDC.this should get the engine running +/- 25 degrees. fine tune from there.

Did that, and its aligned with the top contact.
