ok i was driving up a main road in my area lat week, i decided 2 giv it a bit of a boot, i felt a hesitation and sumfin similar to a missfire java script:emoticon(':fap:', 'smid_12')
http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/fap.gif, since then the car seems to be hunting between 1,500rpm and 2,000rpm.
i inspected the dizzy cap and found that the points were badly worn and the center point was almost gone!
the rotor button is melted in the center area and badly worn.
i removed the dizzy to see if it would interchange with the 1 on my AE82's 4age but since the 82's dizzy woodnt come off i decided 2 abandon this. i put the 86 bak 2 its timing marks and reinstalled the dizzy. after much f**king around it was all bak 2 normal... i starterd the car and supprisingly the car idles fine, no hunting, reving a little too high, (lowered by turning dizzy assembly) when i rev the car it sucks in air but does not seem to rev any harder. the boys at work tell me its a air mass sensor or a MAP sensor that fuked.
what do u guys think? i need a new dizzy cap and a rotor button either way but could an air sensor b fukt?
and not 2 sound like a coplete n00b but duz my 4age hav a MAP or air mass sensor?

does it hestitate when around 1000 to 2000 then its fine after that?
if so. it might be a intake manifold gasket leaking

atm it just idles fine, not hunting, and when u attempt 2 rev it it just sux air, it barely feels like its reving at all.

hey man i had this simliar problem with my 4kc i think, sounds like its stuggling like crazy? but not actually reving at all?, turned out the points gap was adjusted wrong, was getting a dodgy spark i think.

Not neccessary. Your air gap needs to be set right 1.1mm from memory, a new rota button and capis essential and shouldnt be hard to track down. If my mechanic could do it any one could.

Then all should be sweet. If not its off to the auto electrcian (or use a different dizzy) for you. Oh and try to find out why shit was melted inside your dizzy.

Sorry i had my dizzy's mixed up, 4ag air gap isnt adjustable, should read 0.4mm but if youve changed dizzys and its still happening then the dizzy wasnt it.

Have you checked for air leaks yet.
