im not sure of what lsd, if atal in my 85 jap spec gtv? but on slowing down ui change gear from 3-2 fairly fast locks back wheels up, is this a standard ae86 thing or would it be uprated lsd, maybe 2way?? cheers for any advice!!

sounds like compression lock and my non lsd does that, not particularly good for engine I dont think
to see if it is LSD jack up the rear end and turn one wheel if the other one turns in the same direction then it is likely an lsd if it spins in the opposite then it is not. The standard ones do get worn out after 20 years so might be hard to tell

Lol compression lock will either break an axle or CW&P. Don't do it. *ANY* car will compression lock if you make it....
But to answer your question, a GTV would have come with an LSD. As said, may be worn out by now. Do know if your's has a big or small axle diff?

If i had to guess a late model GTV(well i consider 85 being a late model) would have LSD and Kouki axles "bigger"
Only way to tell is yank that shit outa there and have a look.

if you want to find out if its an LSD, look on your drivetrain build plate/transaxle thing whatever and it'll be T and 3 numbers, if the last number is a 3 or a 5 you have an LSD.

yes of course, that diff code just tells you if its standard or not.. having said that i doubt you'd buy an ae86 with an aftermarket lsd and not know about it..
