Go to a bearing shop and ask for a 6001 bearing.

one bearing fits all. 4AC spigot. FWD 4AGE's don't use a spigot bearing from memory only the RWD 4AC (and RWD JDM 16v, but there won't be a part listing for that at repco)

that was the case for the 2 20v's i have worked with. had to get a 4AC spigot for both.

its a roller bearing spigot too not one of the old school bronze bushing ones. horray for toyota !!

errr... in this case no they don't. When you are reffering to 'standard bearings', different manufactuers supply bearings with the same part number. I have seen Timken, NSK, Koyo and SKF in 6001.

The part number is usually etched into the side of the outer race. To remove bearing goto Supercreeps buy one of their 9 piece slidehammer kits, should be two L- shaped screw in hooks. You will have to trim the end of the hook to get it to fit in the hole in the centre of the bearing, then fit hook to slidehammer and remove bearing.

SLIDEHAMMER: $20 at Supercheap auto

Cold also try the punch + grease approach to popping a spigot out.

Messy and a bit more time consuming but it seems to work OK

i'm glad they did it, but i wonder why toyota put the provision for a spigot bearing into a FWD only engine?

Umm... Because it's also a rear wheel drive engine and it's easier than making two different crankshafts.

the 20 valve is not a rear wheel drive engine in any way, shape or form, neither were the smallports or 4AGZEs

It is possible they used the same crank tooling as the late model RWD engines (with big crankshafts) but you need to remember machining time costs money, if they could piss off that operation then they would.

does the FWD gearbox input shaft prodrude past the flywheel? i have never understood why fwd engines dont have spigot bearings
