You can't find what? The speedo is driven by a mechanical cable from the back of the gearbox up to the dash.

Most likely the cable has come uncliped from the back of the speedo cluster. Take the cluster our and have a look.
Or check at the gearbox, make sure it's still screwed in.
Or (less likely), the centre cable has broken somewhere. Make sure its all connected.

My cable got broken somehow. Check along the line under the body first cause taking out the instruments an getting them back in is a bit of a mission.

theres your problem right there, it should be in your intstrument cluster http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif seems someones stolen it!!! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

basically theres a big thick cable from your gearbox (i think its on the passenger side) near the back it goes up and through the firewall, then into the back of your cluster.. chances are its severed somewhere depends.. i've had 2 break in my celica but both were fairly old (ie high KM items)

on a somewhat related note mine is VERY noisy at the back of my cluster theres a really annoying scratchey noise only when moving (its the cable im sure) should i just whack some grease on it? what you guys reckon"?

The cable goes into the sender on the passenger side of the car, up behind the gearbox crossmember, there's a provision in the x member that it goes through. check it's tight, failing that, unscrew it and check that the cable is mounted in the sender properly.
