I have see way too many people asking questions about alternator positioning. I am thinking would it be popular if I made an alternator bracket that suited any non air-con+power steering 4age with any 4age alternator? it would sit very low on the passenger side

I would maybe sell them for about $80

hey sam,
I have made one of these before, but i encounted a lot of problems with wires getting hot, going hard and breaking, you would have to make the altenator sit fairly low to stop this happening. That said i think having it on the passenger side is much neater and wiring it up is also made easier.

Good luck, will be interested in seeing the final product. i may be keen to grab one if it is an improvement on mine http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

I have a JDM 4age... and unfortunately it didn't come with a altenator bracket, and i wasn't going to spend $150 on a piece of metal when i could make one for $10 http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

it also makes it easier to wire up on the passenger side, as you do not have to extend any wires.

it would sit very low and no it wouldnt be anytime soon if I did go ahead with it.

It would be something like this, just less dodgy:

as you can see its well away from heat and my new one would still have an old fashioned tensioner, they are simple, light and they dont jam.

I was thinking about $80- for the lot, soes that sound reaosnable? it would be less given some demand or if it works out ot be easier to make than what I expect.

I will hopefully be looking into this more in the next couple of weeks. I just want to say though that bracket in the pics is what I made for myself, if i make something it will much more sturdy than that one.
