Ok a little thing I want to fix in my hachi....

After respraying my car I cbf hooking up the door open/closed sensors that are in the sill panels for the 2 front doors... so I just chopped the wires... (because I couldnt get the rubber cover that goes over the switch/sensor back into the holes that hold it in place) the boot one remains connected...

Now my problem is....

Sometimes the door light on the dash stays on, and other times it stays off......... so if I drive/park whatever it is on........... this dosnt really worry me.. but as I have found out, this lil fucker tends to drain the battery when it dosnt get started in a week or 2....

Oh yeh, Ive tried playing around with the sensor in the boot, when its pushed in (asif the boot were shut) the light on the dash dims but dosnt go out... Ive tried disconnecting it alltogether but that didnt do sweet f.a either

any ideas..

cheers...

Niz..

Well I could say you should have done it right the first time, but you don't want to hear that.

Pull the instrument cluster out and remove the bulb that illuminates the door open symbol.

Or you could get a JDM cluster which doesn't have a door open symbol.

pull the wires back out and join them together so it is switched... like the button woulod normally do... but really what you did was pretty dodgey haha

yeh dodgy I know but Im confused as to why it is on sometimes and off other times.......

so just wire the 2 wires on each sender together hey, might give it a try...

Hen is a total nutcase

I'm not 100% sure how these work, but I'd guess when the door is closed, the wire to the sensor is NOT earthed and so no current flow and so no light on.

When it is open, the sensor earths the wire to the body and the light comes on.

I'd say your loose wire in the door is swinging around and sometimes earthing itself and sometimes not meaning the light is sometimes on and sometimes not.

And do it properly next time.

lol if there is a next time....... was just playing around with it before.... and there is only one wire going to each sender so yes its safe to say that they work on the earthing system...

and now it seems to be working properly again.... pushed the sensor in and out about 100 times and was working sweet.....
