I am currently setting up the cooling system on my fwd 4age for rwd. I know how to set it up but I dont understand how it works. From these photos can you explain how everything works, whats what, which way does the water flow (when thermostat open and closed), what is the plug on the thermostat and what are the outlets on the black plastic bit for? Perhaps make it a tech article?

Its only a slightly educated guess but id say the plug on the thermostat is water temp gauge, the 2 bigger openings would be water flow, the 2 smaller openings would be heater outlet and return.

As for the black plastic i have no idea.

small intlet pointing to the right of the screen is the bypass, hook that up to the small steel pipe (after you cut it down) coming from back of the top water neck on your engine.

big outlet pointing to the right is the feed for the water pump, hook it up to the steel pipe coming from the back of the water pump after you cut it down.

inlet pointing up goes to your bottom radiator tank. take it off and turn it 180*, will help.

other one is the heater feed. guess where that goes http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif you can block it if youre not running a heater.
