I just went for a spin in a 20v 100rwkw ae86 and i was like " how the fuck can u get this to keep sideways with so little power?" thinking about it for a while, had heard of clutck kicking then seen this video..
I basically didnt buy the car coz i thought it needed more power to have fun, but check out the footwork and clutch kicks by this guy! go to 1 minute 30 seconds and check out his footwork...

I beleive that is katsuhiro ueo
Very old clip and has been posted on here too many times to count.

Clutch kicking is not a requirement of drift, however it can help a car to continoue to drift in tight situations.
Usually when the car begins to bog down due to tight corners. It can also deleiver the power it needs for the car to kick out when going into a corner.

Drift bible doesnt show clutch kicking as its probly described as a 'primative' form of drifting and keiichi tsuchiya usually drifts 'fluidly' with the style of aggresstion and angle that clutch kicking creates

Seen that video before - luv it everytime.
Was worth watching again and again and again.

I don't mind the clutch kicking technique. I used to use it heaps on my old KE55 (4K).
That car needed a lot of kicking at times - unbreakable but.
Cooks the clutch but.

Don't you just luv the sound of that engine in the video.
These's some clutch kicking in the KE70 video that somebody posted too.

to see how a clutch kick can work, next time it rains hit the apex of a corner (slowish speed 2nd gear) and kick the clutch. the car will step out a bit or a lot depending on a lot of things (just give yourself room for a spin http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif), once its out there and you've lost traction its easier to spin the wheels and have a play. main peurpose of this little experiment though is to show how the clutch kick works (don't forget you still accelerate like normal, you kick the clutch whilst accelerating)

i find it a good way to get a slide on in the wet, haven't had enough speed or enough balls to try it in the dry + on the street http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

^agreed you shouldnt handbrake unless its absolutely nessecary
Almost never

Clutch kicks work well, i use them for entry and exit of corners alot. I like to swing my car into the corners so it helps alot

yeah i must admit i'm not a fan of handbrake action ,to much co ordination required, i mean there is places where its use is a necessity. clutch kicks are sweet as you still got two hands on the wheel and feels more stable and in control (prolly more of a mind thing)

Clutch kicks are the only thing I can use to get my KE out in the wet. Work well though the smell isn't great.

Clutch kick is you telling the car "Come on.... whats up with ya... Lets go!!! None of this bogging down sh* I want 5000 rpm not 2000rpm"

Its like whipping your horse LOL
