yeah i was thinking it might do something like that being a 6cyl box and i will also have 4.1:1 aswell so do you think my best bet is to get an A/M speedo that u can set to 4/6/8 cyl? or is there another way to get around this?.... cheers 4 the help so far guys

No, it is the Tacho you are thinking of, that may have a 4/6/8 cyl button. The speedo is a mechanical device. I think the best way to fix the ratio is to get the little plastic gears from the back of the gearbox and swap them with a set from a gearbox that had the same diff ratio as you will be using. That is assuming most speedos also have similar ratios, which I think they do. You maybe looking for speedo gears from a HiLux gearbox that had a 4.1:1 diff. The hiLux will say W56 G292 on the firewall.

There maybe numbers on the back of your speedo cluster. To work it out properly you will need a calculator, think very hard, know the number of teeth on all speedo gears, diff ratio and find the circumference of your tyres.

yes i know the tachos can do that, i thought that speedos would do the same thing....... what if i got the speedo cable off a old supra.... that came with w58 would that work????

As said above the speedo cable plugs in and works fine.

Changing the box wont change your speedo reading. Only changing your diff ratio and tyre size will do that. If your speedo is out you can either live with it, have the speedo recalibrated, or change the gears in the speedo drive in the box so they match up properly.

I use option A.

If it's going to stay n/a 20v, is there any reason you're putting a w box in??
