i was just wondering if it is normal to cut the standard gaurds off totally to make room for the bolt on flares and your lowered car? do you also cut away the inside wheel arch panel (the one that gets all the mud on it above the tyres) so that it and the outside panels arent connected anymore? im trying to make room for loweredness as simple flaring wont do because it rubs on the arch zone not the outside gaurd...
thanx in advance and sorry about my terrible description http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

No idea...I just found the pics on the interweb a while back http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

My guess is that water and gunk might get inbetween the metals and rust things out in places ya dont want.

yeah, water access is a killer. if you can't weld (me) cut the outer skin higher tha nthe inner one, then slit the inner one, fold up and rivet to the outer one, thats what we did with mine, than applied sealant and its all sweet. we cut mine too low still. rims touch still. but yeah my car is loooooow

ok cool thanx for that guys... gaurd flaring is a whole new expertise in itself i reackon, good fun though.
fortunately i can weld but unfortunately i cant get me car up my driveway... i have to take a generator down in the suby, which doesnt run a welder. so i scraped the bolt on flare idea. i just cut slits in the outside and inside panel by about 50mm, smacked the inside one in until there was room, pulled them both out then cut them back to a reasonable size, basically ive just moved the arch higher, it actually looks normal now (corona rear archers are crap). so now it just needs to be sealed up. i found this great stuff from the hardware store. its bog and fibreglass combined, you can breach gaps of up to 50mm with it and if you have fibre glass matting then its even stonger. but im yet to try it so ill let yous know.
