yeah it says that in the link i posted........
you only need one thing an AE71 pedal box
everything else you can use from your 86.

cant u use the pedal box from an 86? i thought the one u sold me gilly was 86? either way it fitted fine
and u can keep the ke70 diff and use an ae71 tailshaft Cj sullivan.
but spose if u got the whole sprinter drietrain..why not

you need to think of the 70 as an funny looking 86
they are basically the same car. think about it, if all the stuff from an 86 will fit you have to suspect they are a very similar car http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif
70/71/86 = same shit different bucket

isnt the steering rack way different, would this be something worth swapping in the conversion?

The steering rack is different from 70 to 86. CJ, mate id suggest buying a AE71 if you can cause there is a bit of shit to do to the 70 for the 4age conversion, and if you unpatient like me then your swearing every 10 seconds.

whilst i agree its a pain in the ass, i reckon the learning expeirence is well worth it. Another important factor is that there are only a handfull of ae71's out there compared to the ke70's. then devide that tiny amount in half because almost half are autos. IMHO its better to buy a decent condition ke70 (again, more common = easier to get = better buying range = potentially better car) and the conversion parts and just convert it.
cheers
