hey

thoughti would post this up cos a few people told me the only way to run a 20v in rwd was to have bare quads with uni filters, and it would be a waste of time using factory management cos id have to run an afm, and if i did go the factory it would cost so much to make a box type thing that it wouldnt be worth while

well to those people i say is $30 far to much to spend?

you will have to excuse the messyness of the welds its gasless mig, and im not the most skilled with the mig,

basically all i did was cut the end off, welded a plate over it, then got a peice of 3in tube from the exhaust place, stuck that on the end, drew a circle around it, cut that out with the dremel, angled the tube a bit and welded it up. 30 bucks for the mig wire, and 2 hours of my day off

definitly the way to go about it, as the budget keeps well within focus using the factory managment.. now all you need it to run a speed sensor input to the ecu so you can run the full potential of the stock ecu.. if not it will have a lower redline.. and it just doesn't go as hard http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

yeah it does clear, cos i have a far better car http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

i wasnt aware that the speed sensor lowered redline, according to phil bradshaw no ill effects occur, however i was looking into fitting one, and modifying the stock speedo and a bit of dicking arounf with the one from its original halfcut and see if i cant break shit

edit * speedo not tahco*

I got it with the car, the car isnt tuned for it, you can notice the difference in power slightly, so i dont thrash it with this setup on it, its purely for rego/engineering then ill put the socks back on.

wouldnt be do hard to make up, but modding the stock one looks way easier, hows your clearance against the clutch master?

clearance isnt really an issue for me cos i have/am putting the 20v into my ta22, a whole different ball game, and much easier than you'd think, its also much better looking http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

thats exactly what i noticed.. had a 3" inlet, with K&N filter, tiged up an ally air box, with trumpets inside.. and i noticed a very significant gain with them off!

it probably sounded faster http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif having an AFM isnt really a restriction and for what im doing i cannot really justify an aftermarket ecu it would be nice but there arent many that could replicate the torque curve of the factory i have been in a '92 with a 20v in it on factory management and it was alright

no it actually went down the qauter a half second quicker.. and that was with 3" inlet.. so it definitly was restrictive..

and not to mention mine made a majority of it's torque around 3K.. quite low!
