Sorry, wasn't sure on the correct place to put this question but whatever.
I was just wondering what everyones insurance is for them and their age and ratings etc? Also are Sprinters harder/easier to insure than imports?

Depends on your age, what type of mods and your drivign record mate, but all things being equal a stock adm Sprinter would be cheaper to insure than any import.

If you intend on modding your car I suggest you see somewhere that specialise in modified cars like Vigil or Shannons. I have 3rd party property on my ae71 and i think its about $300 (I'm 22, max no claims)

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah I'm only 17 at the moment so I'm prepared for the worst and just trying to work out what the worst is gonna do to my pocket when I get a Sprinter.

Dude weak, I got mine through Suncorp insurance. Its only about $700 per year, full comprehensive, including mods (and the stereo http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif). Oh yeah, did I mention that I was 19? Rating 4 (equivalent for me, as I was granted a family discount, with the policy my parents have with another car). The whole process took about 15 minutes online, which was awesome as I needed the insurance that afternoon http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

Shannons won't insure you if you are under 25, although they do great prices, and cover the mods you do, which is awesome. Just Car is bloody expensive, they wanted $1200 per year to cover it, which was ridiculous (I thought).

Yeah dude, Mine was gonna be $600 if I did it through Suncorp cos of that family stuff..

They won't touch it if it's got a rollcage.. and my car has a roll cage.

I gave 'em the full list of mods and they didn't care til I got to the cage...

having trouble also insuring the car legally. im 20 and lost my license for 3 months and 1 speeding fine all 3 years ago.

troubles were on my ADM ae86:

15% power increase on silvertop engine conversion is not allowed, even tho its fully engineered and legally roadworthy.

car value was set on $3k as market value, i had more than 33% the cars value in mods. so wouldnt insure me even if i chose to not insure the value of the added mods.

car was lowered more than 30mm from factory, not insurable.

they wouldnt send me out a document saying what mods were allowed, since its person dependant ( eg maybe i can get insurance but my mum cant etc.) so i told them i had 300 cars as an investment and made them go through each individual car and mod to see if i could insure it. basically i couldnt insure any of them as my age and previous record haulted it and the mods to the value of the car ratio.

so looks like im getting my mums name on the rego aswell as mine, and she gets insurance and im covered as a non nominated driver and pay a penalty excess. which dont bother me as atleast i can insure it.

this is all through NRMA btw. justcar had a limit on age from memory. and shannons dont do u25?? im getting my mum to ring up the NRMA aswell, as im pretty sure since im not the primary driver of the car techincally im not covered since im driving it all the time, hence illegal but they cant proove it.

so technically, i cant insure my 100% street legal NON-TURBO registered car... spuin lucky i backed out of my 300rwkw datsun 1600 project then http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/crazy.gif

everyone that drives it is insured if you get full comprehensive man...only thing that changes is age excess...do it in your mums name and you'll see the conditions when they send you the form home after you get off the phone with them

just cars around $340 for fire and theft. it was $300 but it's $10 or so for every mod you've done (within their guidelines) thats agreed value as well.

i was 23 when i took out the policy.

justcars are pretty sik to deal with, i rang to cancel my policy when i sold my beige 70 ,they said no need and just transfered it over to the sprinter!! saved me taking out a new policy.

tried putting it in my mums name, but with that nrma and justcar said i wouldnt be covered if i crashed the car even if it was full comp insured under her name and just randomly was driving the car as a non nominated driver. they said the new rules mean im not covered, as too many people were ripping the system they changed the system.

just car was $659 for 3rd party and $850 for fire and theft and $1650 for full comp $2000 excess for each http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif

NRMA woudlnt even insure just my mum with the car as its considered to heavily modified.

Shanons said no coz im u25 vigil said no coz i lost my license once, nrma said no coz to many mods.

i lost my license 3 years ago for 12kph over speeding, that adds $500 to everything, excess premium etc... for i think 5 years.. spuin haha

least i got insurance now, even if its a rip, its still insurance...

Im with just car now 3rd part fire n theft @ around 300ish p.a and i asked about fully comp and the most they would give me was 3k at 1700 p.a 3k is fuk all, i was reading your threads and getting really jealous, they dont wanna help me at all for fully comp.
and i was thinking if worse comes to worse and my car is written off do just car take the car and i have to buy it bak off them if thats the case ill stick with 3rd party.

Touge205 u have it good, i could settle 4 13k.
