Ok, as some of you might know i bought this on Monday night. It's a 1983 Sprinter. Very bad home job matte white paint, Almost gone 4A-C, real neat interior, lowered on king springs. Also its really really dirty so I'm gonna give it a wash tomorrow.

Here is a few pictures. Its a long project so there will be many updates in the future. Hope you enjoy :2thumbs:

Yeh its real clean inside. the only thing was that where the driver put his feet, where there should be a floor mat, is all torn up. but luckily the sprinter has a two piece carpet so all i have to do it buy a new front half.

oh i see....................i live in caulfield south in melbourne and there was a sprinter that looked EXACTLY the same as urs near my house in caulfield with exactly the same paint job, wheels, steering wheel, interior colour and everything. i reckon its the same car http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/huh.gif

the last time i saw it the rear end of the car was VERY much higher than the front end. front suspension was new or cut and back suspension didnt have either

anyway, thats my two cents

Dash looks uncracked and pretty good nick.

I saw this car a few weeks ago just near marion shopping centre, i remember from the dragways.

If you would like some really good condition carpet, you can buy my front and rear for $50. There are absolutely no rips or tears, just a bit of black at the drivers footwell. Its blue

Actually MAD i think your right. The keys for the car are stamped Caulfield on the back. And the service history is from victoria as well. So yep your right.

Arch: are you in adelaide. If so id be interested in your carpet.

But unfortunatly the dash is cracked im not to happy about it but im sure it can be fixed.

i got the engine running and i took it for a drive yesterday. You can't take it past 2000 otherwise it starts banging coz of the big end. It should get me up to the cleaners where they lift it onto a hoist and steam clean underneath to get all the grease and crap off.

Unfortunatly for me as i was pulling it apart i did find a little bit of rust. It's underneath the plastic interior trim that surrounds the boot. It one of those things that you dont know off until you buy it. But other than that there is only a tiny little bit of bog.

Ok, heres a bit of an update of what ive done so far.

The interior is completely stipped apart from the dash innards. I have taken off all the fenders and lights. The tailshaft is gone and this morning me and my dad took the engine and gearbox out.

Here is a couple of pictures of how its lookin. Next thing is to get all the panels caustic dipped and some body repair done. Still a long way to go though http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif (sorry about the pics, they go a tad wierd when i make them smaller)

Ok a bit of an update. Alot has been happening over the last couple of months. The car is having all the rust cut out of it, and i have got heaps of bits and pieces for it.

Firstly i have got myself a 7 rib bigport motor, which has had the following work done to it:

Crank cleaned up
Block faced cleaned and honed
Flywheel machined
Head cleaned, faced and a 3-angle valve grind done

And i've just got a couple of bits from toyota, ajps and i've got myself a full gasket kit, jdm headlights, clock surround, jdm bar indicators, and 2 40mm DCOE Webers and manifold.

Also does anyone know someone in SA who can do me a favour and respray my car cheaply if i do all the prep work.

Here are a few pictures.

I picked up the engine from a guy on the forums in Adelaide. Heres a couple of recent pics. I've got ACL Bearings, Rings, and Thrust Washers in there. I just waiting to get the car back from rust repair so then i can paint it and put the engine and the rest in.

Just a picture of my rebuilt DCOE's. Still waiting on the the car. I'm getting new rear quarter panels from japan for them to be welded in coz whoever owned the car before me was a dickhead and completely destroyed both quarterpanels. Also waiting on a TODA headgasket so i can finally put the head on my engine.

4A-GE Power

Haven't updated in a while as there has been slow progress mostly shipping problems. The quarterpanels from Japan turned out to be one quaterpanel and it was held up in Victoria somewhere so the build on the car has been slow. Unfortunately no pictures of it.

Meanwhile i have been farting about with the ignition. Started off trying a Sigma distributor but that was looking to be a hack job so then i went to a 4K distributor. I was going to use that but then i thought what if i just get rid of the gear off the 4AC dizzy and whack the 4AGE gear on it. Sure enough that fitted and I'm getting an electronic conversion kit for it from pom land. Also rebuilt all the master cylinders and the slave cylinder, and got my servo rebuilt.

Also getting my Weber linkage on Thursday, and some clamp on uni-filters hopefully. I now have my 5Zigen stainless pipes and my exedy clutch. The gearbox is also being rebuilt will get some pics of that when i get the bearings. Hopefully will get the car back this month or the next. I tell ya, a year without driving the thing is getting to me

Here is some pictures of the motor: Carbs FTW!! (I realise the fuel pipes on them are around the wrong way)

damm you work fast

whats the specs on the motor?

4A-GE Power
7th February 2008, 12:43 PM
Standard 7 rib bigport. Modified 4AC distributor (will be converting to electronic ignition when i get a kit from pom land). 40mm DCOEs, 5Zigen ProRacer pipes. I've gotta sort out some cams for it. I can't get anymore lift but i can go more duration, however i want it to still have some power down low. It's not gonna be that powerful to start off with, just a nice solid motor.

stefan
7th February 2008, 12:54 PM
you can go 8.5mm lift with stb buckets and caps

4A-GE Power
7th February 2008, 07:55 PM
Yeh i know but the block has be decked so the pistons sit proud. The head has been faced also.

Got some pictures of some the spots that need to be fixed. not very good quality but they were sent via e-mail. Unfortunately no pictures of the front guards as he forgot to take them  Where where you can see the bog, that was all over the sanded back part, but those quarters will be getting cut out and replaced with the new ones as you can see. And the whole back under section near the spare tyre well was all rusted out which he has fixed.

Progress?

4A-GE Power
13th September 2008, 03:55 PM
Sorry i haven't updated for a while. There has been plenty of progress on the car, but also plenty of things happening in the family so the car has been sort of put on hold unfortunately.

Some time ago I sanded the car and all parts have been etch primed, bondo'd, undercoated and top coated by the restoration guy up in the hills where the car is. He should be doing the black part of the panda scheme next week. I have recently got my rebuilt T-50 back from the gearbox shop. I have acquired all new genuine exterior trim and weather strips from Japan.

I should have some pictures shortly but here is a small one of the panels in white.

Seeing the photos of your motor has given me inspiration to get my rebuild underway. Should be great when finished, did you rebuild the bottom end yourself?

4A-GE Power
13th September 2008, 04:18 PM
Yes i did everything my self apart from the machining.

greeneyes

WoW Monster rebuild! :woot:

Still, I was driving my P510 Datsun today just to see that it still goes, and THAT was last registered in 2001!! New carpet went in last week and the first new door seal went on today... Its just another distraction from the KE....

So, a year or two being rebuilt is nothing compared to owning an immaculate piece of history for the next 20years!

what pistons are you running and is yours bored out?

I had Ace Ventura delivering my Pistons and there proper fucked and need some good NA ones

The motor is standard just new rings and bearings, oil pump, TODA Head Gasket, 5Zigen Extractors etc and i have up'ed the compression ratio. I'm doing this to start with because i am running carbs and i just want to see how they run on a stock engine before i get too carried away
