I just put on a HKS SSQ BOV on my AFM 4AGTE and something weird happened. When i rev the engine up, oil comes out of the breather pipe on the cam covers (not a drip but runs out) as does the EXHAUST GASES http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/blink.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wtf.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wtf.gif http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wtf.gif
What the hell is going on here. It only happened when i put the BOV on so is this the root of my problem.

Any advice welcome

did you take the bov off and does it return to normal?

oil out the cam covers, doesnt that mean valve seals are stuffed? but pouring out....too much oil?

exhaust gases out of the cam cover certainly suggests valve seal blown though, thats called blow-by isnt it?

thats all i can think of http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg

yep valve stem seals are rooted if zorst gases coming out cam cover breather, but as for oil?? not sure do u have a catch can off it or something, maybe drain the oil and start again make sure there isnt too much

got me stuffed, i can't really think of a direct effect the bov would have.

pic of installation perhaps

Didn't return to normal and it's called blow by when your rings are gone and crank case is breathing

Put a catch can on with a breather at the top, see how that goes, should work.

The bov shouldnt have anything to do with it. As it will only effect the pressure before the Throatle. (Assuming yours is a typical turbo setup)

If its fine without the BOV, then through it away, you dont need it anyway http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wink.gif

are you sure its exhaust gases or do you mean its crankcase gases cause to me that definetely sounds like excessive blow by. possibly rings gone??

get a mechanic to do a cylinder leakage test to get definite answers

There is zero vacuum when the car kinda runs now so i'm gonna change the valve stem seals tomorrow and if that doesn't work then it's gotta be a piston ring.

Yeah man that sounds like blow by, what mech's blue said.

Took head off today and piston number 3 has a chunk out of the top edge but hasn't affected the side of the piston. Scoring right near top of the in bore so i might aswell rebuild whole engine as i'm halfway there. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif
