Coil on plug ingntion

Been thinking about using CA/RB coilpack ignition on my 4age... should be cheaper than 1zz coils, and they appear to be about the right depth to fit onto the 4age head.

do they have built in ignitors? or will i have to use something else? I'm running a microtech MTX-8 computer, and will probably buy the 4 coil box to use with the new coil system.

That said... does anyone know how much the 1zz coils cost. i'm thinking they would be hard to get second hand, and toyota would want a bit for em.

any help would be appreciated.

I brought a CA Coil over plug (silly acroynm) just to see if it will fit.

It will physically fit after abit of shaving of the boot. If you where to use it, you will also need to rotate the outter two to face inn-wards.

Unsure about ignitior but its a 3 wire type, been told it isn't.

The last 1zz coil I got priced was $600NZ if I remember corectly, and there is 4, so dunno what you'll get them second hand for.

from what i understand ca/rb have an igniter for them as i have a coil pack setup on mine (20v) and it uses an ca/rb ingiter and i think the ingiters are differnet to make sure they match the coils?

Each, it was for a 2AZ-FE motor, but very similar to the 1zz's, if you want I could find the exact price for a 1zz coil, but $500ish a pop is the ball park.
