http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/wtf.gif OHK so i detonated pistons in my Smallport GZE. I went to toyta and got sum new pistons and found out that all the different type gze pistons have superseded to one type and that is all toyota stocks! I put the pistons in my engine and they hit the oil squirters. The new pistons are alot more concave on top (lower compression?) and do not have the cutout in the bottom to clear the squirters. I have consoled with toyta to find that there is only one type of oil squirter in gze's and only type of piston available! The new piston top is identical to the pistons inmy Bigport gze i havent had the bottom end of that engine apart to find out the situation with the squirters.
SO has anyone encountered this problem?

interesting, i would get the bottoms of the skirts machined off, give them short skirts http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif

i'd also be furious that toyota sold me a part that doesnt fit my engine!

The 8.0:1 AFM pistons are dished, with tiny slivers missing for valve clearancing. The 8.9:1 MAP pistons have almost no dish, and have slightly larger valve cutouts.

Try calling Penrith Toyota, they are normally pretty good with this sort of thing. Most dealerships are normally very bad, I happen to work at a bad one. Penrith may be able to hook you up with the right parts or at least the right part numbers so you can get the right pistons locally. Hope this helps.
