Hi all,
Ive been looking around for 4age engine packages and Ive found one for $550 for 100kw out of an ae92 with loom, ecu and complete motor. (owner claims t runs perfectly and doesnt blow smoke )
It has 220,000kms tho.
Is this still a good buy? Is 220,000kms too high to buy on a 4age or should I aim for one with less kms on it ?
I want it to last me a good few years

depends how its been treated & how you will treat it
220k is a bit high but the asking price reflects this somewhat. Does it come with clutch? If it hasn't already i'd assume a refresh would be on the cards within 50k

It comes with a clutch but as you mentioned, it would need to be changed anyhow.
What exactly would I look for to tell the condition of the engine and how it has been treared?

when i got my 4age many many years ago it was close to 300,000 km's... then i daily drove it, and attend every single drift event.. its trashed and its still running, just that it has barely any power

Barely any power to begin with or do you mean its slowly starting to give up.

it was pretty weak to start and it got worse, but it was still awesome and taught me a lot

Compression test it, $550 isnt alot of money

^^^yeah a compression test will ease your worries and if its up there with good compression just buy it and use it till it dies...(if it does die)
but then again for a few more hundred bucks you maybe able to find one with less than 150,000kms on it (maybe $700 to $800) and in that way you won't have to worry (but then again even a low km engine can be stuffed) so $550 is pretty sweet if its going strong

yeah Compression test would be the best thing to do

The engine is actually some distance away from me. Is anyone in campbelltown that would be able to do a compression test for me ?
