hey Guys,
Been doing a bit of research and trying to work out what turbo is best for a 4agte setup. Running a stock gze ecu with (front mount and exhaust). Currently have a t-03 or what i thought was, but all i know is it was off a series 5 rx7 seems laggy. Looking for a fairly responsive type setup good for little bit of slidding but mainly just street and some good fun.
Whats been done/run and works well or what do you boys reccomend?
cheers

t28 turbo is best suited.. full boost by 3700rpm hold 16psi to redline.. Imo t2 flange the way to go.. Weld shut the internal gate and run external

They feel both the same.. But the t28 comes on harder.. t28bb turbo is faster spooling but you dont feel the torque as much as when a bush t28 comes on so its hides from you.. I would recommend a gt28rs for big power stock block. But for fun response gt28r from s14 , s15 bush bearing

whats the lag difference between a t28 and t25g?

what about the kkr280 and 330? they would be easy to set-up.

because they dont need water lines ran to them.
how much power could i expect out of a smallport with a t25g or t28 on it?

Nic19, I've owned a KKR330 before and it had water cooling. It's marketed as a direct replacement for the T25, and thus uses the same lines.

HKS GT2510 is apparently a brilliant turbo for the 4A. It has almost identical sized turbine and compressor profiles as the T28 Ball Bearing, but obviously with improved fin design, etc for faster spooling and a little more top end power. If you want a cheaper option, but something brand new, the Garrett GT2560R is the "aftermarket" version of the T28BB. Can be had for around $1000.

If you want something that gives out more power but at the cost of having to rev higher, maybe a Disco Potato might be the go? Would also be suitable if you have cams + headwork.

EDIT: Ball bearing is a nice feature, but not necessary IMHO. Internal wastegates are a blessing too. I didn't do them on my build, but I kind of wish I had in retrospect. Very similar performance for less dosh.

my kkr280 200kms in the scrap steel pile, impellor was hitting housing= fail!!! made 170kw on 16psi though and screamed.

although ive seen a 330 on a track 4agte setup making 16psi and using oil only not water cooling last for 2 years and its still going!!!!

Thats an ok turbo for a low compression 4agte but your better of going with a bigger flowing front wheel and smaller rear a/r .49.. perfect for 200kw but full boost of 2500-3000 to redline of 8000ish. I could show you my specs after i run it in
If your running standard c/r on a silvertop it will spool so faster it will feel like a supercharger, and most probly your motor will run out of puff

hmmm i kinda figured that would be the case, ahh well, i can always upgrade. just so you know it has a comp of about 9.6ish to one. so i doubt lag will be much of an issue lol
