..I used a heat gun, get it nice and warm so the rubber is more flexible and then slowly peel it off. The hard part is removing the adhesive that stays stuck to the paint work. For this I used a razor blade and some turps on a wrag but there is probably better ways.

The hands down easiest and best way to do this is the following.

You will need...
Eraser wheel (aka caramel wheel, pinstripe wheel)....THIS IS THE KEY TO DOING IT RIGHT
Prepsol
Plastic scraper.
Heat gun or hairdryer.
Cut and polish.
Rags

Heat up strip and lift edge with scraper.
Peel off SLOWLY so not to lift paint. Make sure its nice and warm so it seperates from the body easily.
Scrape off as much of the shite as possible with the plastic scraper.
Attack it with the eraser wheel. Will come off super easy..
Use prepsol and a rag to clean us anything left over.
Cut and polish.....DONE

You can ge an eraser wheel fron any automotive paint supply place for under $20...
