Hey guys
My smallport rebuild is coming along nicely- I'm just a bit stumped on what cams will best suit my engine. Im using acl race series pistons(standard size),acl race series bearings and gaskets and seals. The head is getting rebuilt to standard specs with a mild cleanup of the ports (removving casting marks and smoothing sharp edges) and i will be running stainless tuned length extractors with a straight through 2.25 exhaust. I plan on retaining the standard computer for a while, so i was wondering what size cams (eg duration/lift) I should use that will best suit this application. Anyone who has done this before, I would like to know your thoughts, and any help is much appreciated.

for a standard engine, run standard cams. no point buying aftermarket cams twice, wait till you get a programmable ECU and get some 272s or something.

Oh -ok- I was just told that if you have a free flowing exhaust, and ported head, you should change cams to maximise the new rate of airflow.
