The gearbox in my 86 I'm pretty sure is on it's way out, it's making some awful noises under acceleration so I'm thinking about getting a new one sometime soon. I've been told I have the T18 box (out of a TE72 I think?) It's mated to a 16valve anyway. I figured since I'm going to be up for a new box It'd be good to upgrade to a T50 from an 86/AE71 right?

Now I did a search on this and found out the bellhousings and output shafts are different, If I'm buying an entire T50 gearbox what else am I going to need to swap them over and is it even worth doing as opposed to just getting another one of the T18 boxes?

Cheers for the help guys I'm pretty uninformed on the gearbox side of things.

You need the front half of an ae86 tailshaft to replace the TE72 front half that's there.

I might have an ae71 box for sale.
