At the top of the "JDM" bellhousing it says 4AG, cast into it.

At the top of the "ADM" bellhousing it say 3A.

JDM T50 has the clutch slave cylinder on the drivers side, this is the main difference.

Some say ratios are a smidge different, and the gears are a tad stronger, but haven't been able to confirm this.

The gear ratio is different in the 4AG gearbox. Im talking about the speedo gear http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The plastic gears that drive the speedo have a different number of teeth. This is to drive the speedo at the right speed, depends if you have a 4.3:1 or 3.9:1 diff. I can tell you the number of teeth if you realy need to know.

I thought jonny had lost it there for a moment, unlikely. Here's a part question for you. Is the speedo gear available seperately for a 4.3 (just the plastic gear itself, not the whole drive section)

Just looked into this, will do a full post in tech articles.

Our SR spec cars with 3.909:1 diff have speedo gears 20:6

GT spec with 4.3:1 diff and slightly different tyres needs 22:5 gears. The big ring on the output is N=5. The plastic gear is N=22, and you can order the seperate gear on the shaft, and is same as a KE70 part. The 5 tooth ring will only be found in a 4AG gearbox so will try and order it.

does anyone know if the threaded sleeve that the speedo cable bolts too can be found on something other than a sprinter T-50? mine broke off during box removal and i need another one. a t-18 t50 perhaps?

best shot would be an AE71 speedo cable methinks. The worry wouldn't be the end that connects to the gearbox, it would be the end that goes to the speedo.

You are right, the T-18 T50 has the sleeve you are after, and a later model T-18 will have the right speedo gear also. If you are after the sleeve only, not the speedo gear, here is a list of vehicles that have the exact same part:

SW20 MR2
ST162, ST182, ST184 Celica
SV11, SV21 Camry
AL25 Tercel
KE70, AE71, TE72 Corolla

^^Note, from manual transmissions only.

Does anyone know if they take the same slave cylinder? I need a slave for the 3a bell.

Cheers

The slaves are different. If you need a new one ABS or Repco should have them. AE71 is the same.
