hey..

I've been trying to get my car running for a bit now, and, I'm not sure why it wont start.

First off, i'll give some information on the car.

AE86, 4ac>4age conversion, now, 4age16v+quads+EMS stinger using t3 manifold+vac block.

About 3 weeks ago, I put the quads on with the stock computer, and the car ran, was driveable etc (Didn't run that great though http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif)

So, I pulled the standard computer and loom out (mostly), and put the EMS stinger loom in.

After a bit of fiddlnig and changing plugs (it was a 2nd hand loom) I get the car to start.

Problem! no TPS signal, unreadable map signal (before I had the vac block) but the car would start and idle.

So now, I cleaned up the loom, tookout a few more things that wernt needed (circuit open relay for the fuel pump, as I'm going to get another relay for the fuel pump) I noticed the alternator light wasn't coming on with ign on and engine not running, so i had a look at that, and yeah, basically, i have no idea why it started before, but not now.

I have spark. I have fuel. what am I missing?

Anyone got any suggestions to try? http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

I should probably make a list of what i've tried/tested so far.

Grant.

does it turn over or is it just totaaly dead?

turns over

has spark while turning over

has fuel pumping through while turning over

you can feel like a bit of a pulse in the fuel line (on the return line) when it's turning over.

it sounds like it's just about to start, but it doesn't.

voltage drops to about 10 volts at the injectors from a fresh charge while cranking, and the spark looks good and strong (yellowish/orange? right?..)..

running a standard ae86 coil with internal ignitor on the stinger, using the dizzy as a trigger (24tooth wheel).

I get an RPM reading (but it sometimes spikes, dunno why! eep!) and uhh, yeh.

have you checked the tune on the computer... it may not be rich enough to get the car to run... or something else may not be right for your motor.

played with all different sorts of settings, and i HAVE got it to run before, so who knows.. :S

but yeh..

im starting to lean towards the coil.. due to the coil having not in spec resistance between pos and neg ..

(meant to be .52-.64 but it's 1.4-1.5)

so it might be time for four new coils. (or maybe two http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif)
