http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/3978/innerbootkt2.jpg

the lady stopped and she was shaking and gave me all her details,
now im just scared cause of the dents in the boot they will write my car off, gimme $2000 for it, let me buy it back for $500 and and i have gained a sore neck, $1500 and a sprinter with a decent repair bill

anyone out there estimate how much this is going to be to get fixed..

also if anyone has decent condition lhs taillight, center piece and rear bar availible i could notify the repairer about to make his job easier please let me know

im not sure yet whether the lady's insurance will let me choose my repairer..

Thanks
annoyed and sore,
Justin

im more worried as to what the person at hands insurance values your car :S

my mate has a ta22 celica ( fresh respray, worked 3t etc) and its only worth $2400 aparently....

9th May 2007, 09:33 PM
Same sort of thing happened just recently to my sisters s13. Will definitly be a write off. If the other person is insured then you should get paid out for your car, market value.. But you should be able to buy it back from them for cheap. Its easy for any panel beater to pull it out. If all goes well, you should be able to come out on top cash wise.

Mate if you have agreed value hit up your insurance for it, they shoudl fix it and then chase her insurance company for the cash

ok, i just had a sleep, and my neck is still average..

How are the rails at the rear? have the seperated (moved away from each other) or up or down?

hows the tank ?

they should fix it, who is her insurance with?[/b]

Its too dark now to have another look, but from underneath the rails dont look very disfigured at all, and the tank hasnt been busted open
she isnt sure who her insurance was with, she was too shaky to rememberat the time, but she has insurance, i just have to call her for it unfortunately she like like a 45yo lady driving a kia, so her excess wont be alot, if it was $1500 that would be great, but i it wont be heaps so she will opt to go through her insurer i guess

86SP, if they write it off ill definately buy the wreck back for the suspension, engine, diff, and other... but im scared they will give me sprinter market value, which is mabye $2500, and then get me to buy the wreck for $500, so i have $2000 to fix my sprinter

1st Thing,I hope you are ok.Your car looks like a realy nice one and i hope things work out.If you have your own insurance, report the accident to them, have them fix it and let them chase the money. If you have the details of the other driver to supply to them, you shouldnt have to pay the exess. Also have your ins. company transfer the car to one of thier holding yards. If anything goes wrong they have to deal with it. Keep in mind if you continue to use the car in an unroadworthy condition your ins. company can walk away if any thing else happens.I would take Gillys advice too.Get yourself checked out.My son has just been through a nasty accident and these are facts we had to deal with on advice from both the police and his insurance company. From the replys on your thread, you have plenty of support if you need it.Good luck mate.Phil.

that sucks justin, but its just a car
you should be concerned about possible spinal damage right now.

go to a proper gp/hospital and get x-ray and shit checked out and if you dont have it sign up to private health insurance. Extensive hospital bills for spinal treatment are A LOT more expensive than car repair bills, remember you can always buy another car, you cannot buy another spine, only 1 per customer for 100 years.

i know just like me you love your car more than almost anything else, but right now step back and look at the bigger picture.

ps. sexy is right, redbook value is a fucking shameful $2300 last i checked. Insurance companies only know this as their value, they know nothing of our beloved. I'd be taking his advice and keeping it very close to you, im sure with you running this site, there will be a few mates with hookups that could be found and youll be back on the road for under 2000 bucks in no time.

better that than a wheelchair no?

Jusdrifn 86
9th May 2007, 11:12 PM
garth, thanks for the very sensible advice, i will definately be getting my back looked at...
it has had a pretty tough life and seen many hospital emergency rooms in downhill mountain biking accidents, so i have to keep an eye on it..

i have always wanted to learn wheelchair tricks tho... and use one of those racing ones in a shopping centre or queen st mall...

and im definately keeping the car, its got way too much stuff in it, i'd buy the wreck back for my entire payout if i had to... and ill be keeping it close to me, not letting it leave for anywhere

Very sad to hear mate http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

And definitely get the neck checked out and repaired quickly! You want that sorted before you cause yourself more damage than good.

Now despite what everyone is saying, unless you can fix it real cheap (ie affordable to you), then probably get in touch with your insurer and find out what they will do. Get the details off them as to whether they write it off, or will be willing to do the repair. Seeing as it wasn't your fault, that may be the option they take, which is good for you.

As much as dealing with insurance companies suck, they are there for a reason. At lease suss out what they are willing to offer to do for you, and then make a choice from there.

You just got it back too... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif

Damn, that sucks. Such bad luck brosef, but not to worry. Hopefully you won't lose any money out on this. Just harass the woman untilyou get what you deserve (which ultimately means the car in its pre-crash condition).

Go black bumpers now.

if the red book value is $2500 and it cost's the insurance company $2501 to fix it, it's a write off...

i've been hit a few times on bikes, so i know what insurance company are like... but sometimes it can be good! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

i bought my 89' CBR250R for 4k, insurance gave me 5k(red book value) for it after my first accident, and honda bought it for 1k, so i got 6k for a 4k bike! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif

they'll probably give you the red book value for it and you'll be able to buy it back cheap and fix it for what ever they gave you... you'll be right. like the other boys have been saying, get your neck checked out. you have i think about 6months or something to claim from the insurance company for personal injury, and if you were on your way home from work, you could take time off and work cover will look after you.

i still have a doggy right wrist and ankle and i didn't claim for it coz i was lazy, now i regret it coz i could have got some extra dosh http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

hope you get better soon dude http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif

oh yeah... on another note... some bitch pulled out in front of my dad on my bike, almost killed him, wrote my bike off and now he's gonna get a hole heap of cash and be able to pay off his house and retire! http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

mind you he was off work for about 4 months.... and still walks with a bit of a limp and is still recovering when the accident was a year ago...

This situation sucks.. i know exactly how you feel.

Some lady went through a red light and took the front corner off my 205 last week. dealing with insurance companies is shit and the only advice i can give you is keep you car as close as possible to you and try to come and get their assessors to come to your house to check it out.

best of luck getting it fixed. I've got the left light and centre piece if you need it.

I had real similar damage done to mine at the beginning of last year. Mine was a bit worse but basically all the same spots were hit. The guy that hit me rang up his insurance company pretty much straight there and he was real good about it. The insurance inspector from his company came out and he told me that my car was a financial write off, it's only worth 2000 (my repairer quoted me approx 3000) and if they sold it to a salvager they would get 600, so if I wanted to keep my car, they would only give me 1400 because they lost the 600 because the couldn't salvage it, and that he was also going to talk to rta and have my car de-registered. I was pissed off considering it's my bloody car and the accident wasn't my fault but I was going to be left with no car and 2000 or still have my car and somehow fix it back to blue slip standard and re-rego it with 1400.

I rang up the insurance company and complained to like 5 different people and eventually someone told me that the guy was full of shit, and that they wont de-rego my car and they can't take it off me because it's my property, and I would get the 2000. They said it was still a financial write off so I dont get the money for the repairs though.

The accident happened in last February, I got my 2000 in October. Which sucked. I rang them up like every 3 or 4 weeks asking where my cheque was, each time they were like, oh we couldn't send it because we didn't know how to spell your name or something like that but that they were writing it out as we spoke. 4 weeks later it was a different excuse.

His insurance company was NRMA and I could have taken it to an NRMA registered repairer but not all the work would be covered by the insurance, even if they didn't write it off. The repairs would of been 3000 but in order to put new panels on they would of had to weld, which would of caused humidity bubbles in my paint work, and that wouldn't be covered by the money but they wouldn't be able to give me the car back until it's fixed, so I would of had to pay money anyways..

I hate insurance companies.

I am done with my rant now.

Good to hear that another Hatchi isn't lost and MOST importantly you didn't cop any injuries.

To give you an idea, your car looked good compared to what would have been if it was hit about 12" to the left of there...

[attachment=15490:attachment]

Looks like you would have been hit about as hard as i was, nothing crazy, yet i ended up with a bend chassis rail, check the kink in the quarter panel. You got lucky http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif
