windscreen wipers

this may be the first time anyones asked about windscreen wipers on this forum http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/tongue.gif so here it goes

are windscreen wipers the same on every car?

my guess is no so dont flame me for being ignorant on the topic of windscreen wipers coz who ever thinks of them until u need new ones http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/dry.gif

my point is..............do i have to buy 1983/4 corolla specific wipers or is there a generic option?

yeah different cars have different windscreen wipers,
just go to autobarn / supercheap and use there little wiper machine things which you input the make, model ect and it will give you a code for the wipers you need

with the older type wipers there are mainly 2 types thin and thick ones 86s use thick 1s

ae86's use 2 different length blades dont that? thats what it said according to the bosch book

I think most cars have the same sort of windscreen wipers? i.e. the ones with the metal clip on the end you just squeeze in and slide the whole blade out. There are only two different sizes - 6mm and 8mm and you can get universal sizes if you don't have a clue what size yours is. There are also different blades - Single, Twin & Multi.

I replaced my wipers with a set from autobarn. The Aunger wipers have the correct clip for a sprinter but they don't come in exactly the right size (I think they are a centimetre shorter or so). They come in 16" and 18". 16 is for the passenger side and 18 is for the drivers side and rear.

Nice work. I've been meaning to measure them up, and get new ones. Were those refills you got?

there are basically 2 different sizes for most cars, 6 and 8 mm wide, or u can get the aunger ones that have both, just get them cut to size and away u go

unless the part of the arm that holds the blade has been changed before, then it'll be a 6mm in most cases

im after full blades and and stalks coz mine are bent and the middle of the drivers side wiper comes off the window and doesnt give any 'wipe-idge' and the stalks have all rusted and dont really work properly http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/dry.gif
