So here is my understanding of Australian AE's the pop "Trueno" headlight version was never made available there and the Levin was the only style made available... The Levin also only came with the 4AC..... they all came with the speed chime... and the lsd rear end was not a factory option?
Now I'm asking because:
1. I'm not from Australia
2. I have no idea how the Aspec version came equipped
3. If i have a better understanding of the market there I just might be able to connect the great people of Australia with what we have an abundance of that you do not like say trueno front ends or 4AG-E, 4AGZ-E 20 and 16 valve.
I'm looking for some feed back so let me know whats wanted/needed/or otherwise there so I can better help those that might be interested in some US or JDM parts here on the forum!
Thanks!

aus spec ae86 (ADM) labelled here a toyota Sprinter.
**appearance:
Zenki levin front and trueno tail lights (so opposite to the corolla GTS in the US). we get a different grill also
crappy 13" wheels
our trim comes in shitter colours and we get a really bad steering wheel.
**mechanical:
shit rear end, toyota s series open diff, that you cant fit an LSD to at all, apart from locking.
drums on the rear
4ac engine
no powersteering
shitter front discs
....on the upside the car weighs less than the JDM version 800kg!!!
thats all i can think of off the top of my head

Thats pretty much it. Not really seen as a big seller in Australia, Toyota only made and imported a few thousand (perhaps?). Members rides threads have plenty of pictures of ADM Sprinters.
Wasn't the ADM body shape (front lights, grille, rear lights etc) an option as the basic AE86 model you could buy?
The mechanicals of ADM are pretty poor (in comparison to JDM) such as the 4AC and the open S-series diff (and of course drum rear brakes), although they can be loved in a unique way http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif ADM models had very little 'options' available, they came with what they had and thats it http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif
BTW the speed chime wasn't available on ADM models.

I dont have the slightest clue to be really honest with you! are you saying that there was the possibility that you could nave gotten the levin or trueno front end?? or that fogs on the levin front end were an option? I'm a little confusedon that one...
so were there diffrent models like the apex, GTS, GTV, SR5?? or were they all the same? because thats what its starting to sound like!
and when you say "S-series" what are you reffering to?? I'm not familiar with that one.... The only options that I'm familiar with in the US are SR5,and GTS with modifiers like kouki, zenki, LSD and non LSD.
I imagine that the rear end you're reffering to is the same as the US SR5 being how you're saying that they all came with drum rear brakes....? but I could be wrong...

Few wrong facts...
ADM had solid front discs, where as JDM had vented
ADM does not have a speed chime
No Sprinter EVER weighed 800kg from factory, the ADM was roughly 940.
As a comparison Ueo's car is (was http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif ) 805kg in D1 trim

I see... so what are the big ticket items that are being coveted there so i can source them for you all?
Vented discs?? 4AG's?? GTS rear ends?? let me know!

my rego sticker says 800kg......
but um we only got 1 variant the toyota sprinter and thats it. we had no different front or rear options or anything like that. s-series is just the series of diff in the ADM sprinter. wats a GTS diff like?? did u guys get the JDM gt-apex standard seats?
heres some pics of my ADM sprinter

The USDM GTS rear end is a 6.7 inch with an optional LSD depending on if it was kouki or zenki there was an axle diffrence, and non vented rear discs.
The SR5 rear end is a 6.38 inch without LSD option again a diffrence between kouki and zenki and drum brakes only!
I'm not sure what the GT APEX seats were like but the USDM GTS seats have adjustable back bolstering and a hand pump for a an adjustable lumbar support they also have height and tilt adjustable headrests the seats have pretty high bolstering back and bottom..
Do you know any of the specs for the s-series rear end??

Yeah sorry, didn't explain myself clearly... I meant the models that were for sale in Japan, wondering if the basic basic Sprinter was essentially the same as ours. I have a feeling it is, but then again my source could be wrong.
No, we didn't get the Levin or Trueno whatsoever, it was only known as the Sprinter and there was only one model. Thats why you see so much conversion work going on over here http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif
S series diff is the model type that ADM has. Eg the model of diff in mine is S314. The T-series diffs are (generally) LSDs, such as the T-18 which is a common one on JDM models.

hmmm I'll have to look into that over here and see if we have references like that for the rear end. We essentially only have 2 options GTS or SR5 and I think they're the same as the JDM rear ends though...

T series diffs in early T-18s sont have swaybars, which is where most people get their T series diffs from.
I need some powersteering knuckles, can work out a trade involving manual steering rack or money

Haha so do we!! the GTS rear end is so hard to find right now!! and when you do find one hey want an ass load for it!! or they dont wanna sell because they're parts whores!! but If I find any I'll be sure to post up for you guys!! the only other option is to order from toyota here I can do that but its gonna cost some serious $$ to go that route!!
also what 4age you guys get...??[/b]
all of the GTS's here came with the 3rib large port low comp blue top motor but the AE92 here came with the 7rib redtop high comp small port engine and they're not too hard to find! so its a common swap here.

1 problem, Australian AE86's are Right hand drive http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif
Also, it is rumoured that AW11 and AE86 steering rack housings are identical (except for the pinion - AW11 has a 1" longer pinion shaft)
I haven't seen this myself, but someone should be able to confirm/deny it pretty quickly.
This would probably be a better/easier/cheaper way to go, and is a great excuse to buy the Quaife quick rack - this will give you a new rack and correctly sized pinion.

Here is a quick way to simply understand different AE86 models.
Outside Japan there are only two versions. SR and GT spec. In NorthAmerica the two versions were called SR-5 and GT-S as we know. In Europe it was SR and GT.
The SR spec model:
4A-C motor
T50 gearbox
S series 6.38" diff, no LSD
drum brake rear, solid disk front
normal cloth interia
similar to AE85 spec
The GT spec model:
4A-GEU
T50 gearbox
T series 6.7" diff
optional LSD
power steering
disk brake rear, vented disk front
top of the range interia, some leather/vinal and velour
power mirrors.
mostly similar to GT Apex models
Then there is the big facelift/update in May 1985. So early and late differences for all lights and trim parts.
Europe and America got the full range. Both GT and SR. Early and late. Europe had the Levin front only, America had the Trueno front only with Levin tail lights.
Australia only had 1 model. SR spec 3-door with Levin front, and Trueno tail lights. And we only got the early ones. Missed out on the late ones alltogether.
For parts, shipping is the killer and we are getting more and more parts from Japan rather than USA. You only need to know 5 Japanese words, 1 contact, and yahoo.autions is great. And there is a limit to how much you can jack the prices up because most of it is available new from Toyota. But we are interested in 4.3:1 diff ratio, LSD centre, front and rear brakes, headlights, tail lights, disk brake axles, trueno fenders. Thats about it.

The main parts of interst for us Aussies would probably be power steering arms and 6.7in rear ends.
And maybe vented discs :)
