I've been learning Japanese (日本語) for a few weeks and just figured how to write it on the computer so I wanted use my new skillz.
Anyway katakana words are basically words that come from other languages and just get pronounced with a Japanese accent. I put some easy to guess words that I thought were humerous in here. They have the katakana and its English spelling next to it so you can have a guess at what they mean. 50 points to who ever can guess them all http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/2thumbs.gif
And remember Japanese people don't have L so they use R as their L as well as their R. If that makes sense.

And for anyone that knows katakana, I know my spelling is probably not all right. But I'm still a beginner and as every Japanese person I've met would say (about their English) "My Japanese is poor".

Random words

ペン - pen
ハンサム - hansamu
ビーッチ - biichi
イスッコリム - iscorimu
サンドイッチ - sandoichi

Car related words

パツ - patsu

Thats cool. I knew some people that learnt pretty decent basic chinese off the computer. But you need to know katakana to read half the words in Japanese and its only another 46 letters. Same with kanji but they say you need about 1800 or somthing to read a newspaper so who can be bothered (unless you have to http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/sad.gif )

suki is the word for like,
dai-suki da yo.. with application of dai (means greatly; i "really" like you), is like the diet coke version of saying i love you..
the word for love is Ai.. which take more feeling and sincereness to apply it.. you say it to an asian chick
"Ai shiteru" and shell go wet, despite shes not jap..

That touge Kanji breakdown is cool. And its 3 of only about 15 kanji that I know http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Love it. あい です。 Bad grammer/spelling yeah?

Anyway I'm tempted to use that love on someone but I think I'm too much of a gentleman. At least till I get to Japan http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The kanji for street is 道

and drift86, sweet, you did well..

As for the other two:

ファミコン - famikon - commonly found household item, its a well used abbreviation in japanese, think games

ズボン - zubon - this isn't from english, but someone learning may know it, comes from german, an item of clothing

I knew I recognised this but didn't remember. I'm sure it'll stick with me now.

yep, sweet =) all there

also another one they use is

パソコン - pasokon - short for
パーソナルコンピューター - paasonaru konpyuutaa - PC

The japanese for some reason like shortening all katakana words to 3 or 4 syllables, don't ask me why, it just seems to roll off of the tongue easier.

GAKI86

pasokon = famicom except you have dos and play doom with it...

"ビーッチ - biichi"
I'm pretty sure that a subscript must follow a letter, not after a ー.

ハムッバガ - hambaga
Although though actually spells what is written I don't think I've ever seen it used. People usually just say hanbargar.

Ken you're probably right on both things. My spellings about as good as my grammer right now.
I met this guy the other weekend that was totally fluent and he was my age (20) and was having these big conversations with Japanese girls and they were right into him.
Thats so gonna be me in a few years.
Until then http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/fap.gif
