hello, i have a bunch of questions for the Hachi I am saving up right now, here is the list:
1.How much HP do most people here have on there Hachi?
2. How much HP is best without upsetting the balance.
3.Does anyone have the Group A 240hp engine that I heard a friend talking about
4. Is this a good price for the car http://vancouver.craigslist.org/car/329326190.html
Thanks guys

1. standard power for these cars is 300+hp from their N/A 4age's
2. I just blew one of these and am using my spare Group A engine till my 3rd one gets delivered
3. that is expensive, you should be able to get one of these cars with the group A 240hp engine in it for less than $5000
............ok its late ey...i couldn't resist

i'm having problems finding an engine, let alone one that is 300+
If you can tell me where you find yours, that would be great.
Also how on earth do you get hachi's to 300hp?

1. 4AGEs would mostly have 70-90kw yeah?
2. Goodluck geting enough HP to "upset the balance".
3. Like Hypntk, I have 3 group A engines sitting in my garage. I just have such an awesome 4AC sitting in my car that I don't want to put one in.
4. That cars in America, most of us are in Australia so we couldn't tell you if it's a good buy or not.
One of these answers is extreme with sarcasm. Can you pick it?

haha ok mate, your questions are very broad, there are lots of different setups power wise and being "balanced" is something you gota try for youself, all depends if your used to driving it
1) 4ac (stock aus) 56kw!!, 4age 16V (stock jdm, common aus transplant) 86-100kw, 4age 20V (stock engine from FWD) 120/130kw, 4agze 140kw (?), 4agte 150kw+
2) all depends on if your used to driving it, and how well setup suspension is
3) not sure what the group A engine is, but by the sounds of it i want one, and i havent heard of anyone on the forums having one, but i could be wrong
4)i dunno, hard to tell withouth pics, could be awesome, could be a peice of junk, sounds ok though.

I dont think anybody on here has a grp A engine. Somone knows someone that owns one, but not in a hachi.
standard hp atw from 16v 4age is about 100-130.
Grp A motors cost like 15 grand.
Upsetting the balance? learn to drive first

God again with the Group A 4age engine!!!!! God to much people believe in Initial D http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/dry.gif
Theres only a few N/A 4age engines that have around 200 - 240 hp and some are the 4age's used in the N2 AE86 race cars and the Formula Atlantic race cars. These engines are very very very very very expensive, and you have to remember there RACE engines! They won't last long, they won't meet emissions, and you would have to de-tune it to use it on the roads. So getting a hold of one of these engines is very unrealistic.
If you want 240hp, SR20DET your sprinter or buy a Nissan http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/laugh.gif
But if you really want a "Group A" engine here is the part list for the Formula Atlantic 4age
TAKUMI!!!! (http://www.toysport.com/New%20Products/Atlantic.htm) http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/fap.gif

Don't expect huge amounts of power from an 86, but remember that (standard) the damn things weigh only 900kg so not a lot of power is needed to get them going quickly. The silvertop in that car for sale probably close to 130kw (so about 170hp) stock, might have had some work done to it so it may be more.
Balance? Governed by weight distribution (primarily). As long as the engine thats in there is a similar weight to that of the 4AGE, the balance won't be upset. Naturally, the more power the better http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif
And that Group A engine, I'm assuming is the blacktop 20v 4AGE made famous in Initial D and the Formula Atlantic open-wheeler racing series. Don't bother with one of those engines unless you want to spend a small fortune upfront to by, comply and put it in the car. On the other hand, if you work the motor thats in there (agressive cams, different computer, extractors, possibly even a turbo) you can get pleasant results that way.
Its a nice car that one for sale, is that in US$ or Canuck$? Seems an OK price considering a 20V has been done on it, its probably worth it. Probably check the history of the car first (as always) to make sure that there is nothing hidden in the photos.

the car that is listed is in canuck dollars.
Also, i have a question about this thing:
http://www.j-specimports.ca/dealernet/details.php?id=1786128
it says estimated to be around $8,100 CAD landed in Canada
is that the price of how much it will be to buy and ship it to me with everything?
Driftspec

You can only assume that landed means imported, paperwork.taxes completed, ready to drive. Rego may or may not be included in the price, though. I'm guessing thats a decent price, especially landed. Again, need to check the quality of the car first

yeah the kid is absolutly pathetic because he is a newbie, we should probably hang him or death by public stoning.
look i had a good laugh at HYPNTK reply but everyone doesnt need to jump on the flaming bandwagon.
Dude if you want to know more bout 4ages start reading the technical sections on this site will give u a good understanding of what setups most of us are using in our 86's.
my 2 cents

awwwi didn't wanna scare him, i was merely trying to show him in my own way that asking about group a engines etc. was not cool coz its unrealistic to say the least...that and once again i couldn't resist hehe

I also just had to add a small ammount of sarcasm to my post. I couldn't resist but I didn't give the shit I was tempted to give. Dont fear us http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/dcimages/7/5/4/536981.jpg
And I was thinking, over there (in America at least and Im sure a lot make it across the boarder) they have lots of standard 4AGE sprinters and it sounds like theyre a lot cheaper so we aussies probably arent at all quallified to give give advice on whats good value over there.
(IMHO it sounds kind of expensive for yonder prices. Who knows...)

i dont like when people call hachi roku (eight six) a "hachi" (eight)...
kind of like instead of saying dolce and gabana, calling it "dolce"
i drive a hachi roku, not a "hachi"
jap people would be laughing to hear people refere to it as an "eight"
