Number 1 (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5419&CATID=&keywords=high+energy+ignition&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=) doesn't do much other than provide a stronger output to the coil? Good thing is it can use reluctor as an input.

Number 2 (http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=KC5442&CATID=&keywords=high+energy+ignition&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=) is programmable, (how I don't know) but seems good. Really need to get the Silicon Chip Performance Automotive electronics book to understand how it works. It says it can take a 5v signal from the ECU but I don't know if it's compatible with the toyota ignition system but the IGt is a square wave of probably 5v but I'd like to check that on a CRO. Still you need a ecu to get the signal from it.
Best thing to use aside from standard ECU as it gives a proper 3D timing map(but you don't have a map to tell it how much load it's under). Maybe you could somehow relate load to TPS but you have to adapt a TPS onto the carbs. Aside from that, connect a map sensor and leave it exposed to air so you get a constant load, variable rpm, 2d timing table.

You could do the above and run locked timing but timing is where you make power on a 4ag.

thanks for the help guys
as i said i don't want to run lock timing because it will still be a street car
i got the carby stuff off leo
i already have the Universal High Energy Ignition Kit from jaycar
i'm confused about the silicon programmable ignition seems,
does it need a signal form the ecu, if so, doesn't seem like a good idea

anyone got a spare dizzy for carbs or ignition system??

i think u still have to use the ignitor from the 4age and hook it up to the HEI kit

otherwise get the modded vac advance dizzy?

does it have advance and what else is needed to run it?
how much do you want for it?

It has mechanical advance, vacuum advance, dizzy cap etc. After $100 as the shaft had to be machined down which cost $60 so I want to get my money back. All that is needed to run it is a coil which I can supply for an extra $15 if you don't allready have one. I have been running this in my car for the last couple of months, works well.
