Hi,
The bigport 4A-GE uses a 48Jr or 386 with coil attached to it.
I have a 123 ignitor and a Lu ignitor which appear to be the same unit with different coloured wires.
The 386 takes 4 wires a green round plug, power(which also goes to coil + side), IGf, IGt, and a tach feed. From that it has one output which goes to the negative.
The 123 and Lu take 5 wires it looks like, Power(which also goes to coil +), tach, IGf, IGt and coil. Only problem is the wiring colours for IGt and IGf are different.
On the underside of the ignitors there is:
C EXT B I F
Table of wire colours to outputs.
123 Lu
C B B-R
EXT B B
B B-O B-O
I B G-Y
F B-Y G-W
From that I've figured out the F/B-Y is IGf(same as bigport). B-O is power. I think EXT/B is tacho.
Looking at a smallport wiring diagram, one of the black wires comes from the coil -ve.
So now I'm left with 2 wires The I and C both of which are the same coloured wire on the 123 ignitor. My guess is that C goes to coil and I to IGt.
Am I correct?
Note: Using a standard coil/ignitor combo is not an option in the time frame we've got.
