what colour is the tacho wire for a adm 85 model ae86??? and where abouts in the car can i find it???

it comes off the negative side of the coil, cant remember the colour, just keep taking wires one at a time till your car runs but with no tacho

yee but i have a sr20 now with coil packs... and just wanna find which wire it is

In the engine bay the tacho wire is black with reds spots on it. It runs from the passenger strut tower back through the firewall. It passes through a small white plug in the passenger footwell.

I'm afraid I can't remember more, however I think there are three wires in the small white plug.

I'm sure you cant use the tacho directly into the ecu on this setup.. you will have to do what gze people do and change resistors and such in the cluster first before you hook-up the tacho wire to the ecu pin out otherwise people have said that it stuffs up your coils. http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/emoticons/smile.gif

hmmm wierd i have been told you just find the wire coming from the tacho and connect it to the wire coming off the computer which i have found already

The wire out of the computer will not drive the factory tacho dash. You need a tacho converter (search for "tacho tech" on toymods, or tacho converter or coil negative emulator).
