tom's ae86 cluster?

Hey, I've heard a lot about these Tom's dash's for AE86 that have rpm up to 10k or so.. anyone know where to get 1?

Can your car actually go to 10,000RPM or is it wank factor?

Pretty sure Toms discontinued them about 5 years ago...

Your options would be something like a Pivot tacho or a Full racing instrument panel if you really want to see 10,000 rpm

atm with the stock engine no, the one being built can, and I like not having a stupid tacho so i thought this might have been an option, since it sits in the original place.

If your building a race car I can't imagine that you'd be relying on a stock dash (or even a toms one which is just the same thing with an increased RPM count). A aftermarket tacho will provide you with the most acurate information aside from a full digital interfaced dash and is easily readable unlike the speedo face which can be covered in shadow, hard to distinguish and inaccurate. I'm not talking about the Autometer 12,000RPM fuck off tachos...

I've never had any experience with stock Digital dashes so I don't know...

ah fair enough, thx for the info Shiri.. I'm not very familiar with tachos and such, but if i run an aftermarket one will the original speedo still function? Some find it unimportant to have the km/h but i want it.

Your original speedo will of course will work... the tacho cable and speedo cable are two different wires... The speedo runs from your gearbox so just make sure that's always connected and your speedo will always work. You can even still run your original tacho if you choose, just splice in your new tacho's wires to the original wires.
