except a 3s requires different engine mounts and i don't think you can bolt a w-series box straight up to it. You use the gearbox out of an SA63 celica, and i think you may be able to adapt the engine mounts as well.

Put it this way. If you have an engine you can try it in the car and see what needs doing OR you can read the rwd 3sgte thread on toymods for a start to save you the hassle. There's two conversions happening on here as well I think.

and if you can get your hands on a 4s bellhousing then that would be good. already set for RWD, that will allow you to use the W series box.

medwin will be able to help, he is in the middle of doing it now.

what series 3s is it and what turbo will you be using? and ecu?

Just a thought, but wouldn't the 2S bellhousing from the ST13x rona's bolt on?

yes that works also and the engine mounts could be useful also....

Cheers huy, i always had it in the back of my head that it could be a possibility, but from everything i read on toymods, people seem to think that the townace 2s bellhousing is the only way to go...

Also, Ken, could you possibly link the 3sgte rwd thread on toymods? I had a search but couldn't find it....

Kind of interested for myself down the track.

there is some info on these various threads

http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=23897

oh yeah, get the bellhousing from that tarago in the for sale section. apparently Y series is the same as S series and is RWD. the Y series bellhousing is a better one as it puts the stater and clutch slave away from the exhuast. by the look of things, its the what to go

Corona S series bellhousing wont work unless you want to use the crappy Borg Warner box too. A few cars came out with a RWD S engine and a W55 box. The SA63 is the most common.

C (diesel S series) bellhousings also work, and Y is rumoured to do so too.

There is A LOT of work involved in getting a RWD 3SGTE running reliably. Doable, but not simple, so have a good research before you jump in.

ST1xx rona's had 2S and W box, so i see this as the most logical approach. i will double check on my mates rona in the next few days.

EDIT:

turns out i was wrong, ST1xx have the borgie box and the RT's have the W. fuck.
