hi I'm rebuilding my motor am going to go na banger
cams I was wanting good responsive power so cam deg 304 8.5 mm lift
or a 288 deg with a 9mm lift
want it reasonably streetable also running quads and microtech ecu and 4.1 kg fly wheel
what are your ideas??????????

A very basic rule of thumb has been: the greater the duration, the higher the rpm where max power will be made. The greater the lift the more torque. But a engine is very dynamic and weird things happen.
If I was going to rev it to 8500rpm I would go the bigger duration. But I don't have much experience with this.

how bigs ya buget cause higher the lift means valve train work will need to be done to handle it cbf going into it but you change one thing then you need to changge another thing & so on & so on
it aint as easy as putting in some 304 bump sticks and off you go ...... I wish lol

^ in other words he's saying if you go to a higher duration (to be safe say past 264in or ex) you'll need a valve lift kit, get bigger shims

...and you may need shim under bucket, or shimless buckets if you're looking to increase the lift. Throwing a shim at high revs will be a costly experience.

maybe 7. something
but you don't have to change any shims.. maybe valve springs but thats it.

any camshafts with 9.0mm of lift and above require valve train kit
correct me if I'm wrong

what is the absolute limit you can run big ass cams with no mods?

it's all about the lift not so much duration the lift is whats going cause issues with catching the buckets ect ect

There just no point if you don't do things like hi comp pistons .8-mm, .5-mm head gasket, port polish ect, ect, ect
Bumping up compression is very important if you want to get the most out of really big cams.
If the engine is going to be internally stock, 260ish is probably all thats worth it really.

very true^^
once the head is off, you most well get it port/polished, need the block ballanced etc etc
do it once and be done with it..
spend 3g like me lol

full rebuild is the go port and polish um do any of you people shave the head like 10thou? and get fully balanced internals?
and running 4agze injectors would that be a good move?

if your car is revving high (which is where the power is) a ballanced bottom end pretty much needs to be done...
do this
port/polish head
ballance/blue print bottom end
cams (mine :P )
valve springs
ze injectors
custom extractors
quads????
head gasket
after market ecu or a piggy back ecu (safc)
head bolts
better fuel pump
etc
etc
the list goes for ages man
