there is only one version of s-series so something funny is going on there. borg waner diffs (ke70 and ae71) have 'borgwarner' embosed on the bottem one the housing center..

as for the tacho, there should be a diagram with it..

there will be the signal wire that gose to the negitive side of the coil, 1power for the back light, 1 general power, 1general eath and maybe another for the back light earth. think think that is how it gose from memory.

if it's has a external shift light there should be 2 wires for that aswell..

11k I think thats a bit ambitious :P

I also bought a 11k rpm tacho w/shiftlight but have NO farking idea how to wire it up.. it's got 5 wires but not sure what they do or where to wire them too..

I can post a pic off my axles and my tacho and the colour of the wires.. Even picutres of the one in my car and the diff I housing I bought..

Help lol[/b]

It depends what you mean by your new diff being too 'big'

Is it too wide, you mean? Post pics it may help.

Also, check the build plate on your diff.

TRANS/DIFF: T50 S314

The axle is too wide as in thick not length and it's at the end to the part with the thread not the total thickness off the axle

My tacho has

white, red, green, black, orange.. on the back of the tacho it has written..

white= light
red= ig+
black= -
green= K-

Pics soon

white- dash lights, only have power when your headlights/parkers are on
red- only has power when the ignition is turned to on (audio etc)
black- just a general earth, somewhere behind the dashs
green- negitive side of coil (this is the signal wire)

what did the orange one have on it..?

hope this helps

also you sure you don't have a t-series diff ther, the one you got from ebay..? t-seres have 10bolts centre-housing I belive

Why don't you just replace your diff with the rooted axle with the one you bought off ebay?

Takes like 2hrs, but you will need a mate to help you.

slide86
28th July 2007, 08:57 PM
instead of just removing the axle you should have replaced the comlete housing from drum to drum as josh has stated.

perhaps you didnt have an S series in your car to start with?

maybe a KE70 diff is in there. what are the axles like on them boys?

It was my S series housing and axles that he bought off Ebay, and It came out of my AUS AE86 Sprinter. The centre was sold a while back to a bloke who put it straight into another S Series diff and that fit perfectly. I know what my diff looked like, but where are the photos of your diff Dillan?? :)

Sorry Ben was out for tea and didnt reply to your message..

Pics of housings are up.. Both the diff's are 8 bolt but the ones I bought wont fit cause the thread end is too thick and wont fit into my LSD it fits the axle but it just wont click in and fit into the diff center..

But it might be that my LSD is changed? And the axles were also changed to fit the new LSD? Any ideas.. Cause I want this back on the road asap.. I drove my dads Auto car to tea tonight (so he could get pissed :drink:) but I hell hate Auto now lol

Do KE70 diffs look different to Sprinters? Cause both the diff housings I have look very similar.. Other than the axles..

slide86
28th July 2007, 10:54 PM
do you even know if you have an LSD

S series don't have LSD

Dillon Mac
28th July 2007, 11:05 PM
I'm using that as a general term not the fact that I've ripped my diff apart to check but I always call the center of the diff housing bit an LSD because I don't know what theyr called other wise.. I also call them Diff Centers when I'm being technical or not trying to say LSD a lot in the same post

Would you not critise my terms and help me figure otu what the f**k is in my car aswell Cause if it's not an S series I nee dto find a friggen axle for it..

slide86
28th July 2007, 11:10 PM
dude, we can't help you if you post the incorrect terms.

it's called a diff centre as you correctly stated. by saying LSD you are giving the impression that you have one, which would make identifying the correct axle even harder.

I'm not having ago, but your not making it easy

Dillon Mac
28th July 2007, 11:14 PM
Sorry, but I'm not only pissed off that I spent $60 on a diff housing that wont fix my car, my car is now up on a jack for another week if I don't get another axel tommorrow..

And I don't even know what half the shit under there is.. But some of it's bent

Alright well will someone tell me how ahrd and how long it will take me to do a diff housing swap.. and does anyone have a S series 'diff center' for sale that I can get by tommorrow?

slide86
28th July 2007, 11:21 PM
you also need a panhard rod as thats fucked. I can see it from the pics

Dillon Mac
28th July 2007, 11:24 PM
When you say that is that the supports that attach behind the hubs on my axle or the bar extending behind my diff that stretchs form each hub to hub.. I should prob know most of this I'm starting to get taught how to wheel align at work lol

How farked is my diff.. Cause if this isn't going to be fixed by sometime soon I'm starting to get pissed..

Dave
28th July 2007, 11:27 PM
dude if it had a ke70 diff...come to my place at birdwood tomoro and give me $50 for the diff out of the ke70 you picked up todau

slide86
28th July 2007, 11:28 PM
it's the bar that runs from the diff to the body diagonally.

get an adjustable one from AJPS, they are the shit.

put that axle back in the housing you bought, then fit the entire diff to the car. quick and easiest way out of it

Dillon Mac
28th July 2007, 11:29 PM
I don't know whats in my car.. And I can't get the axels matched until the weekdays so theres no point..

Best case scenario is I find a diff center by tommorrow and can get a diff housing swap done.. Atleast so I can take it to work and put it on a wheel alignment bay.. Damage assesment..

put that axle back in the housing you bought, then fit the entire diff to the car. quick and easiest way out of it[/b]

No diff center for an S series.. Or one that will fit my those size axels..

slide86
28th July 2007, 11:36 PM
TAKE THE DIFF OUT OF YOUR CAR AND FIT THE DIFF THAT YOU BOUGHT

the diff is the complete thing. from drum th drum

did you buy that diff thats pictured in the ute? if so then fit the entire thing to your car, not just an axle

Dillon Mac
28th July 2007, 11:38 PM
But like I said it's a HOUSING and didnt come with a DIFF CENTER and the axles in my new diff housing which I assume are S SERIES don't fit into my current DIFF CENTER otherwise I would have swapped axles already.. the THREAD is a DIFERENT SIZE.. Sorry for caps but you really need to read that..

Dave

Dillon Mac

so we have established that

1. NOS4ag has given you an S series axle for sure
2. an S series axle will not fit in your centre, the splines are to big

thus

3. you must not have an S series rear end, so we don't know what axle you need to fit into the diff thats currently in your car.

measure the number of splines and diameter of that smaller axle

Dave
28th July 2007, 11:53 PM
Omg !!! Dude.... get in your ute.... drive here tomoro and ill GIVE you a f***ing diff for free !!!!!

From what I can tell the axle taken out of my car has about half or 3/4 a mm of thread and is about 23mm's thick at the thread including the thread.. it's also 65mm's between the thread and the break to the total thickness..

The one I bought is about 1mm thread is about 24 or 25mm thick including the thread and breaks to full thickness at about 90mms.. I havent counted how many 'splines' ther eis by that you mean teeth?

Omg !!! Dude.... get in your ute.... drive here tomoro and ill GIVE you a f***ing diff for free !!!!![/b]

Now I'm pretty pissed off at the fact that my car is still on a jack after $60 but please don't use sarcasm I'm wearing VERY thin.. I'm all for some help BUT if you don't like whats going on then P.O.

slide86
28th July 2007, 11:58 PM
yes. the correct term is splines

Dillon Mac
28th July 2007, 11:59 PM
Ok I counted them.. from what I can tell DUE to the thickness diference the spline I bought is 24 and the one I pulled out is 23 or I may be wrong..

DUDE ... I just offered to give you a free bloody diff to help you out and you talk like that to me ..... your wearing thin ? great to hear... measure stuff up first and Listen to what people tell you and it wont happen ! yelling at moderators and abusing people trying to help you pissed off or not is just gunna get you deeper in shit and achieve nothing, I was more than happy to give you the diff out of my ke70 grandma car, but after that retort, bugger ill sell it to someone else rather than give it to you... Good luck with it * that actually WAS sarcasm*

f***ing great.. My threads died over sarcasm and my sprinter will prob be on the jack for another week..

Dillon Mac: From what we can see, your main problem is that the panhard rod is bent like a banana. This will cause the whole diff to sit to one side. This is your wheel alignment problem.

And take some time to think what people did in 1992 when they had to change a diff. No internet. No ebay. How pissed would you be?

Unfortunately for people to help you, you first have to do some hard work reading some stuff. And I mean spend a whole week just reading without posting. Read more, post less. Then when you know what different car parts are called, we can help. The internet forums are not even the best. Go and get a good car mechanics book.

^^ mr rockster has the idea, text based forums are very difficult to get much help from (technicial help yes, but physicially helping is hard..you know what I mean)

if you don't settle down with your language, and the nonsense you go on about mr mac, knowone is goin to be willing to help you.

I suggest you give Dave a PM, apoligise for being a twat, and ask nicely for his diff, it's only 50$ he said, do you want your car back on the road or not?
