hey guys,
just wondering what advice you would all give to tryin to start a car that hasnt been started for a few years(in the case of the engine running fine uintil it was left)
apart from makin sure the batery has charge what else is ther to do?
such as oil? and fuel? and anything else u can think of to give maximum chance of the engine running again
all advice is welcome
oh and the car in question are a sprinter with a 4ac and 92000 on the clock not started in 2 years

cheers

The oil may have lost its lubricating properties from sitting around for so long so I would be change the oil first or at least check it witht he dip stick.
Check your plugs are still OK and clean.
But being a 4ac it should start fairly easily.

Changing the oil and water would be a good start.

And make sure that nothing has siezed. You can squirt a few ml of oil into each cylinder then wind it over by hand using a spanner on the crank pulley bolt. Some oil on the cam lobes and rockers may be smart too. Make sure the crank and cam spin ok.

Unplug the coil and crank it for a while to get oil pressure throughout the engine.

Then some fuel down the carby will help it start.

That could well be going overboard, as after all it is only a 4AC.

just disconect your coil lead and crank the motor over for 20 seconds reconnect the coil lead and start it my 4ac started first go after 8 months so it will start.
