ive heard 4afe brackets are the way to go......is this the case?

i dont want to use the genuine shitty bracket anymore, is the 4afe alternator situated on the exhaust side?

if anyone has any ideas or pics, id like to know. cheers

hey buddy,
on the ze there is a cast bracket on the exhaust side that mounts the power steering alternator and air con. I removed the air con and power steering and alternator. then move the alternator to the top of the bracket (I think it was the power steer pump mount) and use the smaller of the 2 mounts on the alternator and mount it with the 25 or 30mm bolt this will make the belt line up perfectly with all pullys. I've used it this way for 6 months with no problem and can't see it braking.
hope this helps pm me if you need anything cleared up. Ill try get some pics for you

4AFE is on inlet side but you need GE top bracket to mount it otherwise you'll have to make your own or modify FE one.

sweet, so there is nothing that secures it at the top, its just the tension of the belt that holds it in place?

the bolt on the front holds it in place it tightens the bracket up so it doesnt move. then use the tesioner pully to tighten the belt.

I used a 4afe one, that way you can get rid of that massive lump of iron off the side of the engine.

I got a bracket made up that goes underneath the alternator. It works.

you can see it in my members ride thread, the bottom engine pic.......
