i just put in some 25W - 60 oil, its not some performance one, just one from local caltex petty station, apprently its designed for cars made from 1988 and under and other blah blah blah
anyways i bought it cuz i needed a quick engine oil change cuz going for a drive tomolo (1.5hr drive??) and had work all day so couldnt really get the proper oil and filter, oh yeah it's still using old oil filter

please dont tell me how stupid i am and shit, not interested, i noe its not the right oil but i cant care less cuz its only for the week until next week which i should be giving it a proper service

anyways
i just want to know what COULD happen by using wrong oils and stuff, just to get an idea of wat can and might happen

anyone got any stories about them and their personal experiments

feel free to tell us all about it ^^

if something happens tomolo to my 4age, LOL its going to be funny, and then i'll have a story to tell

its a 4ac presumably?

i wouldn't worry mate, i know from personal experience they run for at least 2.5 hours (probably more) with no oil whatsoever.

just get a proper filter and whack some 20w50 in it

it will be ok better to have oil than a low level
in an older motor it is better wont burn it up

something that thick might be a bit slow getting into the top end on startup,so it might rattle a little for a bit,but I doubt you'll have any dramas with it,especially if your 4AG is still factory, and not rebuilt.
hell,it might even improve your oil pressure!

drain it when you get a chance next and put in something else, ranging from 10w/40 to 20w/50. an old 16v will swallow most oils without complaint.

hey while where on the topic of oils, whats the advantage/disadvantage of having such a low starting weight such as 0w or 5w. atm i have 5-50w in my 4age and the choke stays on for aegis, it also chews through the oil alot, but this could be for my own stupidity for not letting it warm up properly before fanging it. but i just want to know whats the advantages/disadvantages say between 40-50w oil and 0-50w oil (just an easy example)

cheers, issa.

Lower first number will mean that it will be thinner when cold so easier to pump but with the same second number it will have the same viscosity when hot (at 100 degrees).

It would be 40w 50 and 0w 50...

If you live in a cold climate you will want it a bit less viscous on start up
