is it me or is it funny how on a full tank of unleaded i only get 320km out of my full tank. i find it quite funny cuz its only a 1.6L carby and i expect to get more km out of a full tank. i notice that my car runs better on half tank and the car feels like shit when nearly on empty. can someone else give me input of their full tank

400k's to a tank with lots of hard driving, usually 7 or so litre's to spare too

i used to get at least 600 ks to a tank with the 4AC, 6.2 litres per hundred highway ks at around that time (CBF working that out)

havent measured it with the 4AGE, but it makes ghost noises when i'm nelow a quarter anyway.

I got 750km out of a KE70 with a 4KC on the highway, still had about 3 litres left in the tank...

Then I had a KE70 that would only get 250km out of a tank when my mates Home-Tuned SR20 Sil80 would be making about 210 RWKW and getting 420km out of a tank

Downdraft carbs are bullshit...

Tuned EFI for the win

I used to get 300-350km out of a tank in my last car. mind you the guys at work used to joke that I only had first gear because it was always above 5k rpm whenever I went past...

drive a bit more casually a bit more often, and you'll see a MUCH better result.

Your engine might be on the rich side, or needs a tune or a service. What fuel are you using? Brand and octane

4ACs are pretty misely on fuel, eg mine on average does 10L/100KM and I can get over 400km to a tank. And thats with a 7km drive to and from work (4 times a day including lunch), normally a few other drives along the way during a week. And I don't normally hold back :D

As for the weird feeling with different fuel loads, you may a have a fuel delivery issue (which can explain the crappy fuel economy). Mine feels great to about half a tank, a bit below that it starts to surge and sometimes stall, but I'm sure I have a fuel pump or carb issue, which I haven't looked up yet :)

For every extra litre of fuel you put into your car, your car has to move an extra kilogram of mass, thus constant increase in mass decreases your car's fuel efficiency.

I call it the Joel-AE86 principle. Hence why I never drive a piss power 4K or 4AC with nothing more than 1/2 a tank :P

but 4ac is a fat nugget.. never put more than a third of a tank in htose bad boys

i get between 400km and 500km depending on h/way driving and thrashing etc. last week i only got 160km to a tank, the 4ac fuel pump shat itself and was leaking onto my exhaust. not good

i was a major sceptic regarding brands of fuel.... and the differences
(i had conspiracy theories of most servos taking delivery of tankers filled with the same generic cat piss)

UNTIL i drove to melbourne, around melbourne.... and back to the gong (2150kms in a week) . this gave me a good opportunity to compare, given the highway cycle, and tanks full to the brim (which i dont normally do)

the difference between the unleaded from my local caltex......... and a 91oct BP unleaded tankfull.......

was... wait for it..... roughly 100kms of range.

note: this was in the falcon not the keto, but still, i was blown away by that.

on topic and regarding 1980s toyota motors though.... all fuel delivery components make big differences.
from pump, carby condition, tuning, even filter etc.... get all of em done and shit yourself at the improvement.

10pm = FULL TANK

mines pretty crap on fuel (black+=red writing bigport 4age) highway driving only gets me about 450, normal with abit of a fang gets me around 300-350, not that good coming from a 1.6litre... none the less great when theres only one person in the car..

4ac's/4kc's dont deserve fuel in their tank, never mind HALF!!

usually get about 500k's + driving to work on the bruce, when im doing other driving usually 450k. Drove from the twin bp's on the bruce to qr, drove qr all day, drove home, (roughly 4 hours), and still had half a tank.
