Quick Axle Question

hey all, did a quick search but came up with no definitive answer so....

my stock ke70 diff's axles seem to have certain "sides" and by "sides" i mean that near the splines they kinda angle away.. drivers & passenger sides?

take a look at the part ive circled in this pic..

now either axle will go in either side. but im wondering if there is a certain way these must go? (kinda like directional tyres)
or can i just whack any axle in any side?

im only asking this because i have been breaking my passenger side axles driving like a moron, and i have spare drivers side axles so i want to know if its ok to interchange??

any help would be apperciated. thanks guys

na, im pretty sure thats warped, up until shear force snapping the axle, its supposed to be as straight as possible, mine were straight when i pu tthem in, and my mates were like taht when he snapped one, so yeh me thinks that drivers side will go straight into passenger side, i amy have done it once or twice but im not sure, they look to be exaclty the same

No ke axles ive seen look like that, could it be that your diff is somehow putting undue tention on those parts of the axles? ie diff has bent grooves too

when replacing axles with second hand ones...it is always best to use the axle from the same side....due to the stress put on it from being on the side all its life...

i.e. its always been stressed one way...put it on the other its getting stressed in the opposite direction = likely to snap quicker....[/b]

yeah another thought i had too.. good point..

oh and ill give u guys a buzz tomorrow about another axle. will be down friday to come get 1 or 2.
