Hey people, I've run into another hurdle with my rebuild, the cars at the tuners but my TPS has died and he's having trouble getting another one. I think the one I have is the small port TB same as the one on the right> <a href="http://jared.catspyjamasdesign.com/throttlebody.html" target="_blank">http://jared.catspyjamasdesign.com/throttlebody.html (http://jared.catspyjamasdesign.com/throttlebody.html)</a>

I was wondering if the TPS is interchangeable between the different 4A throttle bodies? or any other Toyota's for that mater. I'm scared to think how much a new one from Toyota would cost, if available. I'll also start a wanted to buy thread if anyone has one they want to part with.:)

i remember at you pull it noticed that a 4AFE TPS is different to a bigport,

not sure if that means smallport 4AGE's are different but the FE ones definately are different,

i have a 3SGE throttle body on my GE and the TPS looks very similar to a bigport one even plugs are the same but not sure if they are interchangable,

sorry if i'm not much help

Big port and small port are different....

Although i have come across very late model big ports with the same TPS as small ports..

Big port has a square sorta plug where as the small port is a round sort of plug

Not only that but big and smallport TPS are 90 degrees out on the throttle body meaning they cant be interchanged.

So if my TPS's plug faces back away from the throttle opening the other version would be at 90degrees to the throttle?

So if the one on the right is gze and the one on the left is a small port then the big port must be at 90degrees to the throttle then?
Look here (http://jared.catspyjamasdesign.com/throttlebody.html)

I'll have to go down to the work shop where my wagons been sitting waiting to be tuned for the last 2 weeks  and double check the TB and take some pic's cause it's a bit of a mix'n match motor. If I can work out which on it is It'll make life a lot easier finding the right TPS.

Thanks for the help guy's much appreciated. (y)

Edit: got some pic's of the TPS, there's no numbers or marking's or anything.

Can anyone tell if it's a big port or small port or what, I've got no idea?

just a bit of simple reasoning here.

If your car is at the tuners, you must have an aftermaket ecu.

then why don't you just use any TPS that'll with fit the T/B and re-calibrate.

4 pins means:

5v reference
% output(throttle opening)
earth
IDL switch

and by the pictures of the T/B, I'd say that most ADM multipoint "S" series motor TPS's would fit(you might have to change the pin allocations on the plug though???)

Yeah that's what I thought big-port, just wanted confirmation.

It dose have an after market ecu and the dude tuning it is chasing up some universal ones but is really taking his time about it, I'd take it somewhere else but It's the only dyno for a few hour's in any direction. And apart from that he's looked after me in the past when he fitted and tuned my microtech and only charged me for 4 hour's labour.

Awesome, thanks for all your help guy's
