so is a t series gunna be tuff enough for my projected 350hp at the tyres lets say over 300hp keeping in mind i will probably never run that power i will tune it to what ever it makes not keen to blow the diff on the dyno tho and i will probably run about 200hp to 250hp normaly

They are heavy thats the only let down i can see.

Ive got a 8 inch Pajero diff with a LSD which is very similar to a Hilux diff, Its in my corona and i cant notice the weight.

if your doing it because of the lsd in the hilux then its not worth the effort, stock hilux lsd's (yes even rebuilt one's) are CRAP for sliding.

Yes.

That setup is complete OVERKILL for the average NA 4AGE.

Two reasonable options:

1. Deal with having a locker --> if you drive anywhere near a cop...keep driving in a straight line and don't take sharp turns!
2. Save up for a good 2way lsd and a T-Series housing --> They are light and are 500% improvement for handling and sliding compared to a locker and are definitely worth the investment. You can find these time to time 2nd hand from some site sponsors.

As mentioned the Hilux lsds are not the greatest. To get them to work well you would want to rebuild it or shim it up, which will cost you money and will likely feel like a locker anyway!

My 2c from once being in the same situation as you (though I didnt consider a hilux diff, I went straight for the 2way).

Not all Hilux diffs are suitable. Only some from certain models. Check the length first and make sure it's within a reasonable distance of the stock AE86 diffs. It's freaking heaps of overkill for a 16V (except maybe insane NA builds, but why you'd keep the 16V head is beyond me). Go for a T series, such a better choice for your situation unless you're intending to go nuts in the future.

what axels are combatable for a T series housing? do you have to use T series axels?

Mitch, for the time being just keep the locker

Hey mate why don`t you try using what u got first, it might end up working allright and save you some dosh as well, just because a couple of people on here say that it won`t work does not mean that it`s true. I have a bit of experience building diffs so if you need a hand give me a yell, i live on the gold coast to and have just rebuilt my own hi-lux centre with 4.3s + LSD and in the process of installing it and i doubt that you will ever break a hi-lux axle unlike the smaller and somewhat weaker T series axles.
