hold the control arm on the ground with your foot

hit the knuckle with a hammer until it pops out

dont hit the balljoint stud directly, just strike the side of the knuckle

hmmm... been trying that... seems like its no use

the thread rotates with the the bit the strut sits on... im assuming thats the knuckle?

do you want to use the lower control arm your taking off anymore?

if not, degreese the area.
bolt the steering arm back on to the strut.
and smash the living shit out of the control arm till it comes off lol

the ball joints just seized in the knuckle. when you hit it hard and just right itll pop out. you really have to flog the fuck out of them sometimes

Put it in a vice upside down, don't crush it.

A few good hits with a hand sledge will send the steering arm flying off.

Just be careful not to crush the LCA. and use soft jaws.

This is common practice man.

what I do is open the vice till it can rest on either side of the steering arm then put the castle nut upside down on the thread till the back of the nut is flush with the end of the shaft and then bash the nut down.

There is a propper way, with a puller. Toyota SST, if you know someone at a dealership.

There is another way, with a forked tool called a ball joint splitter. But you ruin the rubber boot with that I think.

Or hold the control arm in the vice, and hit the knuckle with a hammer. Place a nut on the thread so you don't damage the threads.
