Ok, im having a bit of trouble figuring out how to get a reliable spark on my Weber'd 4AGE. I can't use a standard 4AGE dizzy as it has no advance mechanism and i would have to buy a few different MSD products to create my own timing curve. I also do not want to run static timing even though i have read that it works ok. Another option is to get a 4K distributor and adapt it to fit, even though it's points, coil i think.

However i was thinking that maybe a 4AFC distributor might work, i know i may have to make an adaptor and change the gear. I presume that it has an advance mechanism and maybe vac. advance as it is a carby motor? or is this not the case?

Has anyone done any research on this or has got a Carby 4AGE and can help me out?

Thanks Daniel

That sounds alright. So i presume it allows you to create you own timing curve or program at what rpm you want it to start and stop advancing the timing?

If you want to run a Toyota style mechanical advance electronic dizzy, you have to swap some parts around. Try collecting these things if you can:

4K-E dizzy
2T-GEU dizzy
FWD Holden Gemini dizzy (also Nippon Denso, same parts)
Holden Shuttle igniter and coil (also Denso, plugs right into 2T-GEU dizzy)

Take a good look at your parts. You may have to swap a pinion onto another shaft.

Cheers mate. Where can i source a 4K-E or 4A-E Dizzy? I can't imagine there are many of those motors around.

Yep, 4K-E will be very rare. That's why I listed the Isuzu Shuttle and Gemini as a souse. Get the electronic guts out of a Isuzu dizzy, put them into a 2T or 4K dizzy. It sometimes works if they are all Denso bits of a similar era.

It would also be a idea to look at Toyota vans and HiLuxs from the 80s with a electronic distributor.

Thanks for that mate. I'll have a search around and see if i can find something that might work.
