Hey lads,

I am trying to track down a headgasket for my 4A (SOHC).

I called Repco, they said it was $90 and would take 2 weeks to get in.... (ACL Brand)

I called Canberra Toyota, they said, wait for it.... $504 :o !!!!! and that would also take 2 weeks to come in... (Genuine part)

Big price differance, Why? (they were both quotes for headgasket kits)

Anywhere else i should try?

thanks

yeah i know, maybe not even worth doing.... lol

Will a 4a (SOHC) out of a AE82, bolt into a AE86 using some of the gear i already have (manifolds etc..).

Are the engines the same? Am I right guessing it's almost a straight swap??????

Yep i think someone stuffed up there, the TRD head gsaket's are only $200 !!!
But there is nothing wrong with the ACL ones, i used one on the first engine i ever built and it didnt fail me.

yeah do that.

ACL make 2 headgaskets, ezi-fit and monotorque. All the engine shops I've been too say to steer clear of the ezifit gaskets as apparantly the glue stuff on them is crap...

HachiRusto (great name)

Yeah, if you can get one cheaper, let me know. As the gasket is for my daily with a 4A-C, i dont need anything special, just a plain standard one will do....

Where do you work?
