I was just wondering if anyone out there has any experience working with twin 40mm mikuni carby set ups on 4age's. Im particularly interested in what linkages people use, how difficult they are to fit and what sort of dollars I can expect to spend.
Im currently using the set up that came with the motor, which appears to be some sort of home fabricated arrangement. It works, but kinda like a two dollar hooker;its a bit sloppy!
Also, what do people generally do with the fuel return line? I placed a rubber hose with a nut in the end of mine but I cant help but feel like it should have some sort of purpose.

You don't need a fuel return line. As long as your fuel pump is designed for carbies and only puts out about 3psi.

For my carbies, I am lucky to have them on a 2T-G and have facory 2T-G linkages. For a 4A-GE there is no such thing. Unfortunately you have to buy a bunch of generic carby linkages from your local pro shop and modify them some more. But as you know, it pays to spend extra time getting it right, and very few people do this.

Factory linkages + some care = my sidedrafts never go out of tune!

Or get some good stuff from here:

What he said was spot on ^^^
Also ring up redline or lynx as they supply manifolds for 4age's and such.
I had to custom make my linkages for my nissan L20 motor, custom i mean using bits and peices of dellorto and weber.
Really rare to see a exact same setup when it comes down to twin carbs

You can spend a lot of money on bits and pieces setting up linkages and still be crap.

Jonny is right. Take your time and plan it carefully. If you can get a look at some setups in situ that have no slop in them, it would be a great idea. Too a large extent it is governed by the type of manifold you have and what mounting points they have, and the possibility/ability to tap mounting holes if required. So make sure you choose a quality manifold.

Anyone care to offer?

redline do both linkage kits and manifolds to suit bigport 4AGE

do mikuni use the same flange as webber/dellorto?? if so both those previously recommended kits will work

Thanks for the replys...I had a bit of a search around the members rides section and came across a few guys running similiar setups. Your old setup from your keto Gilly, looks basically exactly the same as mine (apart from the linkage).

It has a redline manifold so I might get onto them and see whats available
