:2thumbs: nice pyramid head avi btw

i know it looks like crap. thats why its in the off topic and jokes forum ^_^b . i was bored at the beach, as we were about to leave i noticed the lack of traction. it was hella fun, but space was limited, since anything else beyond the points i ran had suspension raping dunes and holes. there was no feedback whatsoever from the steering wheel, even though it has no p/s. so half the time i was guessing where exactly my tires where pointed. yes, i have a habit of washing my car after going to the beach. i let other people take care of it though, as payment for taking them to the beach.

what cracks me up is that i was scared as shit when i hit the mound of dirt to the side, it sounded really bad in the cabin, yet nothing happened to the front bumper. phew.

well think about it. at a constant speed on the highway, it takes less effort for the engine to move just one wheel to keep the car moving then to move 2. and also, when the diff is locked the rear wheels will be alot more stiffer when coasting.

oh and ouch man. (lol commonwhore fiebru)

Open diffs are no more fuel efficient than LSDs, you're still pushing the same amount of force through the rear end, so you can have the same throttle percentage with both setups, same fuel consumption, is all well :)

You could go out on a limb and say the LSD is more fuel efficient, because force is applied to each wheel equally and thus easier to keep the car rolling at speed, compared to a diff which might be spreading load unequally, thus using more fuel to get the desired result. But the difference would be millilitres, so like, whatever :D

driftke70
10th January 2008, 12:40 AM
it would be much easier for the car to move without a locker, you ever even tried to push a car on a grippy surface of one, sure i dont think it would make that much of a difference to petrol, its 1.6 for christs sakes, if course its not going to matter, but rolling resistance will be a wee bit higher with a locker, lsd would be somewhere imbetween.

TrackRona
10th January 2008, 04:36 AM
while all those theories are well backed, my point was that it would be less fuel efficient if i did the local remedy, which is welding the diff. kind of a home-brewed positraction system. i dont know if lsd's are more or equally efficient. and i bull shit you not when i say that welded diffs are stiff and awkward while coasting on the highway. many people here have welded diffs here, since it costs ...i dont know...around $1500? cheaper than importing jdm parts. and they all will tell you that an open diffs are more efficient.

Intense
10th January 2008, 10:58 AM
Just weld it, the fuel economy won't change at all. A normal open diff applies power to both wheels in equal amounts untill one looses traction, then almost all power goes straight to that wheel which will just spin harder and not make u go anywhere. A locker won't do that, instead you will go somewhere. So if you ripped a skid at every set of lights, the locker will be more efficient :P

yes. racing on 'rican touges. they're too narrow for 2 cars sometimes, so its impossible for both cars to have comfty entry and exit lines. when you look at it from a far it looks like they're going at each other and trying to knock the other racer off the road. that actually happens to some people 0_0 .and anyways, the closest thing to describe it was the way jets go at each other in mid-air... a.k.a. dog-fighting

The video was for me and my buddies. I wasn't trying to be cool. I wasn't trying to drift. My hachi isn't drift performance. I was simply burning out on a limited strip of sand.

I get tired of saying this. -We do NOT have racing tracks on the island. Just strips. There are no people to give "lessons" on coordination either. I'm not a rally racer nor do I have any idea how my hachi will react in low-grip conditions. This was a first for me. I love my hachi, the last thing I wanna do to it is mess it up.

Also, like i stated before, the term "dogfighting" refers to a style of racing.

Even if i did crash it, in a place where this is something you see normally :

(the pic was taken from inside another hachi)
not something you only get to see on a "cruize". I'd be able to replace it, for $500 easy.

This goes without saying I have another hachi on the east end.

When im on the east end at my 'rents house, i wake up to find this in their driveway:

and yes, i live a top a mountain on the east side.
